Silvana's right-Life is Good Hi Man, So many people are following you now. In light of the election campaign, your travels are perfect contrast to our activities.
Good to know you have completed the distance. Looking forward to seeing you . Love James..
Life is Good It's nice to hear someone say that life is good while they are at work! That's quite a compliment that you feel that my writing brings the trip alive for you. Keep staying positive. Love Pedallingpete
Thanks G&M Yes I actually like travelling by myself, particularly cycling where you don't always either have to look behind you to see that the other person is till with you or no be able to just stop when you want to. I would James mad if he had to stop all the time like I do to take photos! We are planning to do some travelling together when I retire properly next year.
hello from the Peachey Dear ((Peter))
What are marvelous adventure not only do i love your pictures.......but also your writing i feel like i am there with you as i read it.
I cant wait for you to return and get an opportunity to talk with you about all this.
Life is good here.
Talk soon
Love
Silvana
awesome Hi Pete this is my first time visiting a travel blog site, and I'm not sure what to be most in awe of: the instant access to where you're at, your photos, your extensive info or your travel bio. (James was funny when I asked him how you were, his look of surprise as he asked well hadn't I checked your travelblog. silly me.)
You've also reminded me to read Zen and the Art again, what a great book! Happy Travels! Adelaide Greens Jane
Awesome Adventure Hi Silvana. Yes we could take photos together. You would love it of course and the cycling would come to you over the days and not be hard work. It's funny though, for me this is not an adventure as there are so many others doing it and it's all pretty easy. Not that I'm complaining. I think my days at turning up at remote villages with 'the natives' are over- on a bicycle, anyway.
Love Pete
Koala Ted Hi CaroleinSydney. Yep he's a problem. Now I'm not one for thinking I haven't been to a place if I don't have a photo of me there, but this is K.Ted's first trip and he's still proud to be Australian
Love Pete
Hello form Home Peter,
I am playing some music Mozart may have written in Vienna. I liked the autumnal photos of the Danube. Can we change the Blue Danube Waltz to the Brown Danube Waltz? Strauss would not be happy about his river. The blueness would have come from the clarity of the water. Let’s not think about what turns it brown.
Adelaide would make a fabulous bike city. We need to get rid of Harbo first, and a Labor gov. that promised to integrate and expand the bike network, and in office it was one of the first promises they broke.
I am so glad you are enjoying your holiday. Many people have commented on your blog. Happy pedaling.
James & the fish.
Rain?.. What's that?? Hi Peter!..
The countryside looks absolutely gorgeous - and green!! And rain!.. we're all jealous here in SA so make the most of it : )
Nothing exciting to report here. Still no sign of an election, a bit like rain clouds - you know it's out there but still nothing productive!!?..
Keep pedalling and look forward to your next blog : )
Cheers, Carole
India's Lands End Thanks Yathi for your positive feedback. It's nice to know that people are still viewing the site even though my 'adventure' has finished.
Cycling the Archipelago Thanks Jona for getting in contact. I hadn't really thought about tourism increasing in Flores since I was there. I don't think I could do the trip now. My fitness level has gone down a bit!
Impressive I have just got back from Flores and your impressions are very interesting to read about - especially ten years ago when fewer tourists were around. I'm also so impressed at how you mabaged to cycle, most days i was knackered from the Bemo. The leg from Labanbajo to Ruteng must have been completely knackering i can imagine!
Thankyou...Thankyou....Thankyou I'm glad you are enjoying them. My father travelled in far flung places in the 60's and always said that there are 3 stages to a trip: The planning, the being there and the telling after. He enjoyed the former and the latter the most! He would have loved the blog technology. You can keep telling about your trip for many years and to the entire world!
I'm so jealous!! Hi Peter!..
Looks absolutely fabulous, I LOVE the photos!!.. I am S-O-O-O jealous!!
Thanks for sending me the link and I look forward to reading more blogs : )
Cheers, Carole
Photo Effects- "no go" for the purist Thanks for your comments. Obviously I don't see it that way. I just see it as another medium. I love the way the colours merge and I see a photo in another way. It would only "ruin them" if I didn't have the original. I don't see any difference to altering a photo by cropping out something, changing an exposure to get an effect, or using a different speed film etc. It's all fun.
photos Hi!
I just came over your very interesting blog. You have some excellent photos, but please, don't ruin them with "photo effects". Sepia works fine, but watercolour or even cartoon effect are no go... Ok, thats my opinion, but i acknowledge that people have other preferences (and thats good and healty).
Enjoy and keep travelling!
what an adventure this sounds like a real adventure.
I hate feeling like I can't communicate - you mentioned not having enough vocab - especially when things seem strange or like some mistake has been made, not being able to clear it up.
Martin probably does this job all the time, but I can't believe he didn't have his own tent.
dont give up... yet Yes, the history of Christianity can be bloody! but...
from the greatest tragedy the greatest triumph? (crucifiction---resurrection)?
Jesus will be there when you need Him... as and when...
Great blog! thanks
Bus Booking Thanks for the Tip. I'll look into that next time. In some places it didn't work out re connections or availability. It's also part of the experience of course!
Buses One way to get around the filthy buses you mentioned is to make your bookings thru ticketvala.com which offers good quality bus services primarily between Gujarat and Maharashtra locations. I have traveled on some of the operators being offered by ticketvala and they are of reasonable to good quality.
Cribber? What a shame that you are not as welcoming as the overwhelming majority of people I met including those in Bhuj. A few points for you to consider in response to your offensive comments:
1. I don't expect cornflakes in Bhuj. I go to India because it isn't the same as home. I admit that I don't always want Indian food at every meal and that if Cornflakes is on the menu I might choose that. I only asked for cronflakes BECAUSE it was on the menu. I love Indian food and in fact cook it at home.
2.I am not from America. I am Australian.
3.I know that English is not the native language of India. My understanding is that there is no one common language across all of India and that the constitution recognizes 18 official languages, including English. There are over 1600 minor languages and dialects listed in the census. I do my best when I travel in India and generally get by without offending anyone.
4. The point of my attempt at being humorous as a result of my lack of local language was not that I needed Cornfakes but that I needed to know what the hotel (which is also catering for Tourists) could provide- Indian or western food, it didn't matter. The main fault of the hotel was that the menu was not readily available as it usually was and that it was in English only. It also needed to be in Hindi given that the person responsible to provide food to guests could only speak his native language be that Gujurati, Hindi or whatever.
I will continue to visit you amazing country (I have been there 3 times). I encourage you to be as welcoming as the people I have come across in my travels and to not attempt to talk for the rest of the nation. I appreciate that you are rightly proud of your country.
DOING IT WHILE I CAN..before old-age, climate change, terrorism, terminal illness, lack of money ...hits.
