Hey Everybody, I'm off on my journey to New Zealand to see my brother on the 23rd of March, I'll be taking the scenic route and rambling round a few other countries first so I thought I'd set up this blog so everyone that wants to keep up to date with my progress can.

Hey everyone, I've now reached Vientiane the capital of Lao where I'm hoping to chill out for a couple of days before heading down south and crossing the border into Cambodia stopping in a couple of places on the way if I've time allows. Since the last blog from Chiang Mai I caught a bus to Tha Ton where I hopped on a long tail boat which took me down river to Chiang Rai, from there I headed to the Chiang Khong on the border with Lao crossed over to Hauy Xai where I caught the 2 day slow boat which took me to Lauang Prabang with a stopover in Pak beng. I then cuaght the bus to Vang Vieng where I chilled out for a few days before hopping on another bus to Vientiane. This ... read more

Asia » Thailand » North-West Thailand » Chiang Mai April 28th 2011

Hey everybody, It's time for another update. I've just arrived back in Chiang Mai after brilliant 3 day hike through the surrounding Jungle. I got to ride an Elephant, go white water rafting, swim in the pool of 3 waterfalls, trek through some beautiful scenery and stay overnight with the Black Lahu, one of the local tribes in the area. Unfortunately I couldn't get any photos of the elephant riding to show everyone as because they didn't have enough Elephants I was sat on the neck rather then in the basket so I was clinging on for dear live the whole time couldn't get my camera out. I'll upload what I can now and once the rest of the Trekking group have emailed me theirs I'll add those too.... read more

Europe » Russia » Siberia » Lake Baikal April 10th 2011

We soon discovered some people are better able to cope with 4 straight days on the train then others, by the end of the journey some people were ready to blow, it didn't help that one of the train addendants was a mini hitler who liked to shout at everybody, for some reason he really didn't like Ed serenading him with Queen half way through the journey. Luckily for everybodys sanity there was a lovely Russian kid who quickly acquired the nickname 'Short Round', who would run around shooting everyone with his toy gun ... read more

Europe » Russia April 10th 2011

Hey everybody, I've now completed the Ruski Huski train journey from Moscow via Lake Baikal and Mongolia to Beijing and I'm typing this in my hostel just 10 minutes walk from the Forbidden City. It's been an amazing journey so far and I've got loads of great memorys and met some great people. I've taken quite a few pictures so I'm going to split the journey into a couple of blogs and upload a selection of the pictures. Well the Journey started in moscow with a scary taxi ride from the airport, the driver didn't speak any English and the car wouldn't start so he had to get a jump start off another driver, then everytime he took his foot off the accelerator all the electrics would die! I was glad to get to the hostel ... read more
