The pyramid
To answer your question, the pyramid at Austerlitz was built in honour of Napolean. It's akin to a military fort. The high point is always an advantage. It was built out of dirt with grass growing on it to mitigate erosion. It has a obelisk (tower) on top. There are several just like it around Europe.

Oranje
I have a project for you... (no the subject is not mispelled) If the Orange is related to a political movement from 1566 and King William, why did they chose red, white and blue for their flag?

Bourneville.
If you chaps are venturing as far as Warwick you may want to consider a visit to Bourneville , home of Cadburys chocolate. I recall that the tour of the factory was a great hit with both Meredith and David. I think you go around on a small trane, sort of "Willy Wonka" theme. Keep dry! Uncle Paul.

roundabouts
Ha Ha, I'm laughing out loud. It's good to hear that someone else had problems with those pesky roundabouts. We also got lost several times and Don actually had to use his compass on several occasions.

What no pictures?
Hi Guys: This is the first blog without pictures. I was expecting to see numerous pictures of all those egg preparations you mentioned - did you cook all these, Lori? Do they have the same peanut butter that we have here e.g. Kraft. The only place we had it was at breakfast one morning in Edinburgh and it was dryer and less sweet than ours. Send some pictures of the Space Centre, it sounds interesting. Elke

Trip to Jerusalem
Nigel, whilst at Nottingham castle you must have visited "ye olde Trip to Jerusalem". It is literally below Nottingham Castle. It has the distinction of being the oldest pub in Britain, I believe it's about 800 years old, Crusaders stoped their on their way to Europe ! best wishes, Uncle Paul.

Hey guys!
Love to get the updates. I have missed a few and am going to catch up on them right now. A pressing (touchy) question..... find a peanut butter or has Lori switched to Nutella??? Inquiring minds.... Can't wait to tell you guys about our full day trip to Versailles with George Costanza's mother. Toodles for now Don

Birds of prey
Elke, you wouldn't have believed it! We were just chowing down on some sandwiches and I swear, the hawk landed inches from our faces. Then the handler fed him a chunk of raw meat (although I swore the hawk was eying my peanut butter sandwich...which I would protect with my life) and he sat there on the fence eating it right in front of us! There were many varieties of eagles, owls, hawks, etc. It was amazing!

Harris Hawk
OMG! Don looked for birds of prey for our entire trip - I think we only saw 1 heron. He would have been stunned to have a hawk land right in front of him. Well done!
