Great Pictures! I really enjoyed looking at your pictures, looks like you got a great tour of some of Iceland's finest. Hope you enjoyed it. I want to ask you about the horse show you saw, do you remember the name of the farm or where it was?
Elizabeth Farm Sydney It's amazing what you have found out from the tour in Elizabeth Farm. I was wondering if you have posted similar thing for experiment farm cottage. I love Australian history, it would be nice if I could talk to you via email on the experience you have gained from it to better gain insights of Australian history.
Kind Regards,
George
Hi Sara, I got that figure from the local TV show "Collectors", that is the figure that one of them, Adrian Franklin, gave. He is a fifties freak though and he might have been a bit enthusiastic when he forecast that price. There were several stalls selling things that day and many of the asking prices were a bit high, I suspect that a bit of haggling would be expected.
Goblin Teasmade? Hi Nigel
I read through all of your blog, and it was great to see the photos of some extraordinary 50s memorabilia. I actually have my grandma's Goblin Teasmade and wondered which auction it was that brought such a huge amount ($800) for the teasmade you saw? It'd be great to hear back from you ... 2006 being so far away (:
Cheers
Sara

Thanks Reusch67, we often remember the holiday in Iceland and what a great time we had. Might go back some day, there are some places that we haven't seen and some that we'd like to see again. Might leave it though under they get the Dreamliner flying. Many thanks for your comments.
Wonderful Pictures Thanks for the comments and the high quality photos! I know that Iceland is much more enjoyable today for visitors with internet, technologies, portable cameras and computers, plus its communication with the rest of the world. When I lived there in 1985-1986 to study at the University, the entire place felt very isolated and desolate. On July 14th when I arrived, having left pure sunshine and 91F in Chicago with a sunburn on my back, I only came to land in Keflavik and wait for that same bus you did in a cold foggy dirzzle, no sun, no trees, only rocky lunar landscapes and about 57F for a temperature. I almost cried wondering why I signed up for two years of what I was then seeing. Well you gave me only the positive memories of Iceland in your photos so thank you for that. The picture of the "hetir Polli" (hot pot or huge puddle of near boiling geothermal hot water) is gorgeous. The deep blue and purple colors near the bottom of the hot pot where the water is, next to the soil/land/minerals around the edge with those great earth tones, ocher and umber colors, which lead to that carpet-like soft thick and dray moss bring back the best memories of a summer visit to Hverðagerði one Sunday. Just outstanding...your record of the trip is superior. Also, yes, those 757s ARE old planes and warn out but they have tried to do their best to keep things refreshed when they can do extensive checks and replace seats, etc. Keep in mind, too, that they are going to be one of the launch customers for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner rather soon so flying to Iceland in style will be standard fare in the near future.
Thanks Willow Pleased that you had a great time there. For those who do not know they have some kind of demonstration every 30 minutes or so, they give you a list of the times and places to go. There are also staff walking around with some of the small very safe animals so that you can have a good close look at them. The whole day is both entertaining and informative, we've been a couple of times and are likely to go again.
IT IS THE BEST PLACE TO GO!!!!!!!!! when i went thier it was so fun it was the most fun ever you should spend the whole day there all you dont see every thing you should go you should go there you might think it is to expenseive your wrong it might look it but is not to see all the animals and every thing i loved it there IT WAS MAD
tempreture my hot end is 42 and cool end is 27 to 30 is that bad please help me.
The lizards look happy but i'm just a bit worryied,
they seem to be moving all over the place.
I have 3 lizards central netted dragons babys about a month old one of them sems to spend more time on the rock at the hot end and the other 2 sems to be on the cold at the top hiding in the fake plant.
Thanks
Thanks for the info. We are familiar with Bangalow. My in-laws lived at Suffolk Park for about 40 years and as they got older we would go up every six weeks or so to take care of the garden and a few other things, did get to know the area quite well along with 814 kms of the Pacific Highway. Bangalow is certainly a very interesting place especially if you get off the main road and go for a walk in the reserve around the back.
Byron Hinterland Accommodation If you're looking for somewhere to explore in NSW, check out the quaint historic village of Bangalow, just 12 minutes into the hinterland of Byron Bay, on the North Coast of NSW. You will find fantastic eateries show-casing outstanding local organic produce, world class shopping, and plenty to see and do. Bangalow itself is a great stop-over being less than 2 hours to Brisbane, and is ecclectic enough as a destination in itself. If you're travelling with kids there is the Macadamia Castle, Crystal Castle, Whale Watching and heaps more places to go that are kid-friendly. If you're kid-free, then take the time to enjoy the succulent foodie trail that the region has to offer, and Bangalow offers plenty of opportunities to shop-til-you-drop ! There are also lots of galleries and craft/antique shops which are very intersting, in and around Bangalow, if that's more your thing.
Thanks Yes we enjoyed that trip very much and would like to go back in a year or two to see how the people are getting on. We like to see more of Cuba next time though.
Retired and love travel, cruising in particular and have plenty of time to do it. We like to swap information with others so as to be ready for any holiday to get the most out of it.
The pictures that I have posted here have been resized for the Internet; if anyone would like better quality copies they can have them for free. Starting in 2009 my pictures have been resized to 16:9 ratio so that they will fit a wide screen TV, believe this might be the way of the future. I'll be sending DVDs to my friends with commentary and hopefully background music if I manage to locate some legal royal... full info
