The last few moments spent in Varanasi involved a final walk along the ghats and one more glimpse of the nude, ash covered gurus as mentioned in a previous blog. I stopped to look at some bead jewellry for sale, in part because I was curious and in part becuase it seemed nice. Larrye bought a small piece and I was hoping to buy a number of things -- ankle bracelets, necklaces. Alas, the vendor and I could not agree on price -- he wanted 1300 rupees and I was prepared to offer 800. I went as high as 1000 then started to walk.
