Happy Birthday! Hey Nancy, what fun to be spoiled with cake in India. Hope you are not gaining weight at the rate Woldy and I did on 8 days of Chongqing beer (gotta wash that hot Chinese food down). Hope you're taking lots of photos.
Love you, Cathy
a shopper's Paradise? Hi Nancy,
We're just recovery from our China jet lag and bad colds which always seem to come with long plane rides. I'm delighted to sit comfortably at my computer and travel now with you. Love your humour and use of details.
Thanks, Nancy! Miss you!
At last! Okay I have finally figured out how to forward a comment, it takes time for one of my age! Happy, slightly belated, birthday! Continue to have a great trip, keep writing like this and you can become a professional. Love & Hugs
Roo is drowning and Farsh ain't helping... Hi Nancy, Happy Belated Birthday! Your trip sounds amazing so far and I can't wait to see the pictures. Things are very busy for the boys at the corner of 15th and Bellevue but I'm making sure they behave. Good luck with your train ride!
Hi from Bimini Doug told us about this site and we thought we'd say hello from Bimini. Made it here a couple of days ago. Glad to hear all is well there. See you in June.
Late subscribers We have only just been sent an e-mail to make us aware that your blogs are available. Maybe we need a new computer or a better server! However, can we add our thanks for your fascinating and valiant efforts to record the sights, sounds and smells of India. Must say we felt felt relieved when we read about your stay near the Taj
Mahal. Please stay safe!!!! As we were getting worried as we read each little saga. The tigers were actually the least scary bit.
Belated birthday wishes. Looking forward to the next entry.
Love from Joan and Zane
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to Nancy, Happy birthday to you!
Sounds like you're having tons of fun over there. Everyone misses you here and most are tuning into your blog everyday! Lots of compliments regarding your writing.
Love,
Katrina
125 rupees? 125 rupees for a veg thali? You've been fleeced - 20 is more like it. Although I guess that's what happens when you hire a guide and driver rather than doing things yourself.
Your day at the Taj What a fabulous way to spend your birthday! Some fantastic scenery, fascinating bits of history, a great pool to dip your toes in (or more)....sounds like it's a happy birthday after all! XOX
Happy birthday!!! Loving the blogs! You're an great writer and I can almost picture myself being there too. And then I'm thankful that that I'm sitting in my office looking at the beautiful snow-capped North Shore mountains, downing a delicious cup of hot coffee. Not a dead person or pile of feces anywhere to be seen. Ahhh...
Sounds like you are having an amazing trip full of wonderful (and eye-opening) experiences. Lucky you!
Have a great birthday and we'll be thinking of you. The boys miss you.
LOL Andrew
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCY!!! Wherever you are and whatever you're doing, we hope you're enjoying your birthday! Sending you much love and big hugs on this very important day....XOXOXO
Tiger paws Hi Nancy,
Sounds like you are becoming a real old hand, living with the crowds, touts, exploring the jungle sounds great! We woke to snow this morning with new grass pushing through the top, young new green shoots.
Aren't tigers paw prints huge? Keep writing,
Best wishes wherever this reaches you,
Bill
Hard to relate Hello my friend - as I read your thoughtful, fascinating blogs, I flash back to Manilla in the mid-80's and remember my horror at how David (who had been there for 6 wks by the time I arrived) bartered with the cab drivers when he picked me up at the airport...within a week, I was doing exactly the same thing. If I hadn't, I would have been taken for a literal LONG, expensive ride. It is hard for our Western sensibilities to understand the S.E. Asian sensibility; things we would take offense to simply roll off the back of the person begging in the street. Even in the Vcr Downtown Eastside, I have learned to give a smile rather than cash -- the other day, a young, disheveled man asked me for $$ - I said "no, but I have an orange if you're hungry"....he looked at me like I was insane and walked away, shaking his head. And so we learn....
Thank you! Nancy, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences in this format. I'm inspired to do the same thing on my next trip because it is almost like keeping a diary and you are sharing so much more than what is usually shared when trying to recall everything when you get home. Thank you for the interesting cultural and personal insights - lots of fun to read! Is it hot? How does it smell?
Cajun sends a big hairy hug!! :o)
"accidentally"? Nancy, are you sure you didn't take the rum by "Accident"? When you drop Newfoundland into the journal, it makes me think that Tiina might want to keep a closer eye on you and alcohol! Can't wait to hear what you think of the food and if their tomato butter chicken is as good as South Vancouver's...missing you already and we will be dedicating tomorrows bootcamp to your safety.
Living vicariously through you Thank you for taking the time to share your holiday with us! I'm particularly interested in your observations about the disparity between the rich and the poor. You are indeed a wonderful writer and your blog will be a wonderful keepsake to add to your photos at the end of your journey. Keep well my friend! Sending ots of love and good karma!
