Awoke to the beautiful picture of a loch, snow and mountains out of my window. Because I had left my bag in the car, I spread all my stuff out everywhere. The room looked like a bomb. I needed to get underway quite early this morning as I had a big day planned. Beautiful hot breakfast, tea and toast and I was on my way south towards a place called Kilmartin. Originally I had planned to go via the coast road as I hadn’t been there before but when I came to the turnoff, I changed my mind and went left instead of right. The left road took me over the mountains and it began to snow almost immediately. This road passes by the Glencoe ski fields and there was plenty of snow around! The snow ... read more

Still suffering from a bit of jet lag. Woke up at 2:30 and tried to get back to sleep, successfully till 5:30. Packed up my things. I've been leaving my suitcase in the car. All the hotels over here have stairs and no elevators and I'm tired of dragging a suitcase up the stairs so I just take the 'necessaries'. Had a delicious breakfast at the Cedar Villa and headed SW toward a place called Cannich where there is another chambered cairn that I wanted to see. I had plenty of time today so I just took my time. As I was driving out of Inverness the oncoming traffic was all covered in snow. There was very little in Inverness and so as a car drove out of a side road with about 10cm of snow ... read more

Today was such a mixed weather bag. Beautiful sunshine in the morning to mini hail in the afternoon. There was heaps of snow and some rain. I left Perth at around 9 after scraping the ice off the car. I had brekky at Maccas as the cook didn't show up at the Hotel...lol. The toffee latte was yummy Grady!!! I went to a store and bought a double plug for my GPS and dash cam so they could operate together and headed north. The day was a balmy 2 degrees when I left Perth. Lucky I have a warm little car. First stop was the Tomnaverie Stone Circle. It was about a 40 minute drive from Perth through some very pretty countryside, When I finally found the carpark I had to walk about 10 minutes up ... read more

Not sure whether to fly Royal Brunei again. The planes are fine, the food lovely but the two transfers suck big time. The first stopover in Brunei was uneventful but everyone just sat around for 2 1/2 hours. The biggest farce was the Dubai stop. They advertise this flight as a straight through to London. The reason they stop in Dubai is only for fuel although I did see them loading up cargo. Then came the silly business. We had to go back through security at Dubai. I was 'the chosen one' of course and I had to empty out my bag, electronically frisked and explosives tested for the second time. We walked for about 15 minutes, stood in lines for 10 - 15 and then arrived back at the same gate that we left. Really ... read more

A busy morning has finally found me at Gate 12 waiting for my flight to board. I must have a suspicious face because I was randomly selected for explosives testing and a full body scan. Must be the grumpy face. The flight is really full so that means I'll have to sit next to people! boo hoo. The saddest thing today is they now have fancy passport control. You just scan the passport and have a photo taken and then you are through. No more forms to fill in, lines were non-existent but NO STAMP for my passport. I went and asked the border control people and they just said that technology has negated the need for stamps. I'm sad. I think I'll make my own....lol. The 'kids' have already had their photo taken with their ... read more
