Andrew, Quinn and Caeden Awesome job on the math! correct! Even though we are spending thousands of kip, we are really not spending very much money at all! We are trying to spend our money wisely and will try to bring back some souveniors for Mrs. Evans to show you guys. A meal usually costs about 30,000 kip. How many dollars is that? Thanks for reading our blog! Enjoy school!
Samaya Hi Samaya. I miss you guys too. I think you would all really enjoy travelling around Asia. It is very fun and exciting. It is different than anything you would have seen. Hopefully when I get back to the United States I will come to visit you guys in Miami. Say hi to everyone for me. Be good for Mr. Russ. Help him help you guys by trying to get a lot out of what you are learning.
Andrew and Caeden The rivers are sometimes very deep in the middle, so that not even a grown up could touch. Usually on the sides, and even in the middle sometimes, it is only about one or two feet deep. Even though the river is shallow, it is flowing very fast which is what makes it hard to swim since they must swim against the current. The kids usually learn on their own with older friends and brothers and sisters looking after them. The little kids usually follow their friends down to the river and want to swim with them, so they just hop in and learn! They also bathe in the rivers since they don't have baths or showers in their house. So it is very important that they learn to swim very young so they don't get swept away by the river.
There are some small fish in the rivers and ocassionally a water snake. Some of the snakes are poisonous, but they aren't very dangerous since they don't often attack. They are usually more scared of the people splashing. There are also water buffalo that bathe along the edges of the river too, but they don't swim out into the middle. We'll try to find a picture of this for you guys because it is kind of funny to see the water buffalo (they look like cows) submerged up to their heads.
the most is $10.00. the second most is 100 Baht which is $3.01. The least is10,000 kip, which equals $1.18. Spend the kip, but use your dollars wisely. How many kip does one meal cost? We say to spend it on food and souveniers, b/c you probably won't go back there.
