Sean and I awoke feeling quite refreshed and amazingly, neither of us felt hung-over despite our wine-tasting extravaganza a day earlier! Another gorgeous morning, so we decided to make the most of it by going for a run in the Las Condes area. Unfortunately, I did not think to bring my camera with me, but it was probably just as well, since that would have likely turned our 30 minute run into an hour-long one because of all of the beauty we encountered along the run!! I definitely would choose to live in this area if I lived in Santiago!! Beautiful tree-lined streets and so many flowers making the area rich with colour!! Lots of small stores selling flowers and fruits and vegetables, adding to the splendor of this neighbourhood! I wish we had more time ... read more

South America » Chile » Santiago Region February 12th 2011

We awoke to a beautiful, sunshine-filled morning in Santiago, Chile. I must say, I was very impressed with this city thus far. Well, the Los Condes area anyway! We ... read more

South America » Chile » Santiago Region February 11th 2011

After some very typical Attard-style, rushed/last-minute packing, Sean and I were on our way to Santiago, Chile. We were fortunate that the weather cooperated with us so that we did not have any delays with our flights out of Saint John or Toronto. We took a red-eye, direct flight from Toronto, and 10 hours later we landed in beautiful, sunny Santiago, Chile! Fortunately, I slept most of those 10 hours on the plane! When we arrived, we were happy to find out that the time difference was only 2 hours ahead of Toronto, and only 1 hour ahead of Saint John! Yes, Chile is actually EAST of the maritimes!! After making our way through customs, and paying a $137 USD entrance fee (per person - quite steep we initially thought, but well worth the price of ... read more
