more about the roma Tom,
Thanks for the finale. I'll tell you about Oprah and Obama in Des Moines if you tell me some of the findings from your study of the Roma upon return. Cheers!
Dan
Wonderful finale! Tom - It looks like a wonderful final week or so. And the devil is incredibly scarey. We would not allow such a thing in the U.S. :) love, mom
Christmas I was excited to see all the Christmas things. We are getting started here with our annual trip for the tree next Saturday. We are anxious to hear your stories. Can you take a photo in the grocery store? love, mom
Tree time I have to hurry and eat before heading over to sell Christmas trees, but thank you for the nice pictures. The night shots were surprisingly good, given previous attempts. I wish I could be at that market, are there any little wooden ornaments or cooking apparatuses or friendly toms that i would like to see soon?
self portrait of a czech Tom,
If you look any more European in your next self portrait, I'll stop wearing my Lederhosen on Halloween. Thanks for the update---definately makes me want to see more of that part of the continent. Cheers.
Dan
Nice photos I am intrigued to travel when I see these photos.
I enjoyed the pumpkin smash and the self portrait too.
Skinheads abound here these days.
Love, Mom
hey wow! i feel like the quality of your pictures just tripled. i don't know what's different but there are a lot of really nice pictures here. have you been hanging out with the arty kids again?
i think my favorite is the pumpkins that are chatting on the boat. that's what it looks like me, anyway. nice self portrait, you look more like yourself. you look really short though, you should probably stop slouching before you get stuck like that. has it gotten any colder since you've gotten there? i see you aren't wearing a jacket. i see many of the leaves have fallen; is fall nearly over? one day maybe i can be part of a sousosi... a bunch of statues of me.
do you hate yourself for saying "two weeks in prague, but not much to report?" there's so much around you!
study abroad looks like more fun than law school. although i did get a new lunchbox to complete my dorky backpack/piles of books/glasses look. post more, i have ample time to read blogs during class...
did it seem to you.. .. as if the pigeon in your picture was wearing shoulder pads? that is what it looked like to me. your travels to bratty and poland seem sufficiently informative; do you do anything aside from visiting castles and pubs? i guess you view theater and literary events. i'm glad you're learning and having time to relax and read, too. i found three daphne du maurier books at the library, but i doubt i will have any time to read them this year. is the puppy cheering up? how can she not when she is carried in a blanket like a baby?
quite the life I would just like to agree that the cottage is quite picturesque, almost too perfect. also, your host parents names are priceless. Keep working on the self-portrait, it could use some help.
have fun.
hmm, i think that if i was a puppy, i would be depressed too. like tom k's nameless puppy that was sent away. your week looks like it went well. isn't it nice not being busy with normal university business? the cabin looks very nice, what were you keeping in your hat? i can't believe the cuteness of all those mice in the pile. was there any division between you and them, or could one of them have jumped on your shoulder at any minute? the giraffes are penned up nicely, as in lack of pen... but in your self-portrait your pants look camouflage-y, i think due to the grass. you haven't bought camoflauge pants and shaved your head and started playing competitive chess, have you?
Oh, bearded one... Wow, that cottage looks like the definition of folksy! I know that you are busy, but could you manage just a few more photos? Just kidding, but it's really enjoyable to see where you've been. Thanks, Tom.
OH! AND.... ...don't think i missed your snide little comment about my photographic preferences! i'll remember that next time i try to share my knowledge with you!
just kidding, thos., i am greatly enjoying all your photos.
ya nasty! that's right, i'm talking about the dog. your pictures are so nice but they are covered in the filth of dog hair that you just can't get out of your clothing, no matter how hard you brush or use a lint roller. do they have lint rollers in the czech republic? your cultural detective excursion looked nice, it's good you didn't need to stay near the factory smoke for too long though. the one picture of kutna hora looks so neat, i guess that's why it's a rick steves attraction, huh? one final comment: ...africa? really? ugg? it will be funny if it's a golden retriever??
Lucky you! I have finally been given access to your fabulous blog; what wonderful things you have been doing! It is so much fun to see a little of what you are seeing--that yellow car was a keeper! I also enjoyed the road or bridge with the statues, the castles, the dam behind the house, and just about everything else...keep it up, and know that we are thinking of you!
how do you pronounce ? and where do you find it on the keyboard? i searched for ten minutes before giving up and realizing i could simply copy yours.
you get to see such nice spots on your travels and it sounds like you are learning things that are somewhat up your alley. the mill-house was very picturesque, with a nice greenhouse and all. they had dill growing, we will have to grow it from early on next year instead of trying to steal it from the display&trial garden and having it die on us. the weather is nice out right now, with the sun shining into the room and the temperature in the mid-60s i think. i tried to feed the chipmunk an hour ago and he ate out of the cup i was holding, stretching out as far as he could when i began pulling the cup away from his little spot on the log. have you seen any animals yet? are there little czech squirrels, knawing on your pivo and pivo-stein, etc? and how about the flora? i know you aren't that familiar with names, but do you recognize anything? i miss you tom; i looked at the rat cage today in the garage and wanted to bring it out and go get a nice rat pair. i didn't do that though keep taking pictures, i want to see more!
Awesome, dude. Oh Tom! It all looks amazing. I especially like the "water tower," and your room does indeed look cozy. It will be fun to see some of what is going on in your life this semester!
praha, blah-blah i'm just kidding. based on the pictures, your town seems a decent mix of unsightly and beautiful. you should make the mini golf your home base, you could find protection behind the barbed wire. your room looks like a pretty place to spend your time, unless it is a leaded paint that is on the radiator. today i read an article about paint prices, and they are not cheap! since you are not currently around, you can tell that i am now interrupting my own thoughts instead of yours. i wish hanka was in a folk band instead of a folk music band. i also wish you could bring home the special playground and the hot car. it sure would beat a jaguar! take care, tommy.
I'm an anthropology student from the University of Minnesota. This semester (Fall 2007) I am on a SIT study abroad program in Prague. Find out what I'm doing here, and leave me some comments so I can stay informed about what's happening back home in the West.... full info
