thank you Ashley, thank you so much for your entries. I LOVE reading them, and looking at your pictures. I'm glad you've made some close friends, and hope you will be able to maintain a life-long relationship with them. The worst thing that could happen is that you'll only be left with ALL THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES !! =). It sounds like your continuing to find ways to enjoy yourself, I'm happy your scholastic endevours aren't leaving you without time too play. Stay safe, and come home healthy. Love, Dad.
my favorite entry to date Hello my precious daughter. Your blog entry was so lekker!! You are sounding more mature and wise, as your entries go by. My little girl... growing up, into a fine young lady. You make me the proudest father in the world, thank you sweetheart. I'm gonna take a guess on what 'braai' is. Is it soup? Is your favorite color orange (too)? It has always been mine. A friend of mine, who had taken some 'color analysis' type classes, told me several years ago, that if your favorite color is orange, it means your emotional development stopped around the age of 5. It seemed to make sense to me, I've always know I was child-like =). I'm looking forward to hearing about your time in the shark cage. WOW. I hope you will be able to take a camera down there with you. Have someone try to get a picture of the expression on your face if you can! In closing, I have a comment as a respectful man, please don't think of me as a dirty old pervert... Tell Stephanie I said she was beautiful. I love you sweetheart, you are MORE beautiful. Every time I read one of your entries, I become more and more impressed with you, and the kind of person you're turning into. About 2 more months left in your adventure, right? That means AT LEAST two more entries, right? Bye for now. Dad
Don't feel ashamed Why do you feel ashamed, you had nothing to do with apartheid. The whites were not all bad, they braught civilization to Africa, had they not colonised South Africa, the blacks would still be living in the bush. Also the western Cape is not a region were blacks have any original entitlement too, they moved down from further up north.
aaaaah i have the bug so bad. you can tell that everything you say is loaded with so much more than the words can contain. it makes me crazy! i want to be there and i want to know more and i want to not be here anymore. it was fine before break. but now i am done. loved you.
cruelty to ostriches I've been looking forward to your next entry, and I was not dissappointed, and it was very well written. I'm so happy that you're learning so much, and having so much fun, at the same time!!
I was hoping you'd choose to do the zip line thing. I've done it once, and I knew you'd love it.
The spilunking sounded fun, I've got a little claustrophobia myself, so I can relate to your anxiety. I'm happy that you were able to face your fear, and enjoy the experience.
I had to laugh when you said you didn't ride the ostrich, 'cuz they were miss-treating them, but then you ate one =).
I sure love you sweetheart. I'm already looking forward to your next entry.
Love Dad
wow your pictures are amazing! its so beautiful there! your experiences are incredible. i cant to hear even more from you when you come home. LOVE YOU!
you are blessed, and so are we Sorry it's taken me so long to contact you, it looks like Peter may be the only one left in your immediate family to say HI. At least I didn't finish last =).
I'm happy for you (not jealous), that you are able to experience this adventure you've set out on. Thank you so much for your entries. I'm looking forward to the stories and pictures from either your bungee jump, or your zip line... or both !!
I have a question: in refernce to one of your topics in your yoga class... what are "the vedas"?
Please follow your Mom's advice. Saftey first. Then, I'll add... FUN SECOND !!
This is my first voyage into the world of blog. Your site is pretty darn impressive. Just like YOU!!

Dad

you are a super hero! I have been really worried and excited...alot of the same symptoms you report in your blog! ...since you left backwards ol seattle...transportation as you say, is so much more advanced in other countries. You are a great blogger....painted a great picture in my mind and you described London and your run to hyde park. This was first chance to get to a computer...am at B and G's house...they send their love and hellos too. I am printing out your blog thus far for them to peruse. When and if they ever figure out how to do this thing you will undoubtedly hear from them. Anyway...will check again tomorrow from the library or see if peter can connect with his computer...i hopefully will get my own computer going soon. Your trip is a good impetus to get me on the ball about that! Write again with all your thoughtgul insights (such a great attribute to be so in touch with yourself like that! You can conquer anything my sweet girl - am happy you have your group there in stellenbosch to attend and share with!) anyway...i know you are a busy girl so i will let you get 'on with it' as they say! Love and kisses times infinity! mom
yay! Yay, first blog post, first comment! :D
I'm glad you're enjoying London and getting to see the things that definitely separate it from any other city in the world. I remember being completely blown away when I went the summer before high school.
How cool that there are Al-Anon meetings in Cape Town! Do you happen to know if any of your peers in the program are interested in going with you?
In terms of negativity, I think I felt the most homesick in the first two and last two weeks of studying abroad when I went to Mexico. Yes, you are definitely where you are supposed to be right now--so much of your future (and, uh, money) is invested in this program and experience. You will NOT regret it, ever.
