Ohh, the calamari looks like it is to die for! I would live on that. Definitely.
The town on the side of the mountain overlooking the beach is reminiscent of a lovely oil painting. If I painted, what a place to retire.
I enjoyed hearing about how the perfumes and candles are made from lemons and oranges. I am sure they smelled truly fragrant.
All in all, what a beautiful weekend with your friends.
Thinking Ahead Well, some practical purchases as you think ahead to the next steps in your journey, fittingly counterpoised with a walk along the ancient Tiber.
Calamari and Pebbles Picturesque, and you've developed an affinity for calamari! I hope you'll always remember the beach pebbles and sunsets in these little towns on the cliffs.
Expectations and Discoveries Too bad the main site you wanted to see was closed, but it sounds like you discovered some other memorable sites. And your dinner looks scrumptious.
Florence....your destiny Your great great grandma was "Florence Baxter," and with your middle name being "Baxter," it all ties together....no wonder you liked Florence so much! Sounds like you saw and did more in a three days than many would hope to over an extended vacation.
Sardines Glad your rash went away! As far as people being rude on the bus, it seems like close cramped quarters don't always bring out the best in people, no matter where you are.
435' Above Ground You're getting up early like Grandpa does (every day)! Makes for an early bedtime! Leg cramps after climbing all of those steps? The view was definitely worth it, based on your pictures!
Cecilia and Sardines Some awkwardness walking into a wedding and discomfort on the bus, you'll never forget going downstairs to where Saint Cecilia once lived and being backed in like sardines on public transportation in Rome!
Gorgeous! How fun meeting another American and sharing with her! Liked seeing these gardens- these are pulling together to make a very nice photoessay of your trip! Happy you are sharing this. Xo
No Ceiling It's interesting that they painted the ceiling with so much depth and intimation of the sky - as if there is no ceiling, and you're looking up to the heavens.
Da Vinci and Style I can't believe you had the Vatican museum mainly to yourselves and saw a da Vinci work! (I ate at our corner "da Vinci" restaurant in Ohio, but somehow not the same thing....) Nice picture of you with the stylish outfit too.
Grandpa and Grandma Auge would love it there! What a great juxtaposition of the bright red modern motor-scooter and the old stone pathway. It made me think of the type of place your Grandpa and Grandma Auge would like.....small town, spiritual significance, local artists, and a restaurant with an all-you-can-eat-and-drink offering!
What a great combination! You've discovered the perfect combination in Tivoli - fresh air, fountains, friends, and food! I'm anxious to hear more about the history too.
Ciao! Welcome to my travel blog for my study abroad in Rome!! I will do my best and update everyone as much as possible, but I will be enjoying the Italian culture. ... full info
