Haha, yes, sorry I didn't realise how old your post is! Thank you responding though - very helpful. Wish we could do both but not to be this trip. I'll just have to go back!
Hi, great read. I was just wondering if you had to choose one, would you choose semuc champey rio dulce? We only have time to visit on or the other and while I understand they're both very different experiences, which would recommend as a must see? We will be doing the ATM caves and tubing in Belize and my other half is 6'6" (not sure how tight a fit the caves are?). Thanks lisa
Guatemala Hi! Goodness, this feels like a lifetime ago! This is such a hard choice as both were incredible. I'm not sure I'd recommend caving with your boyfriend...some very tight spaces, if I recall correctly. One of my favourite days was going to the Paraiso in Rio Dulce and that Aussie hostel was one of the best I'd ever stayed at. So, if it's still there and you can do the hot waterfalls and then the little canyon trip in a canoe - I would choose that. The scenery in Semuc Champey is incredible, as was going down the lakes, but maybe if you're doing something similar in other countries, the Rio would win. I hope that's a bit helpful...my friends are in Guate right now! Enjoy your trip!
wow! Just testerday I was thinking 'haven't heard from marianne for a whole and then up you pop ! After reading that I'M exhausted - can't begin to imagine how you must feel - big hugs and good luck in london xxx
Lovely... ...just lovely to hear my Mazda, so happy that life is so good for you. Restrictions etc sound poo but am a firm believer in these sorts of life lessons and glad you are learning such valuable teachings. I do believe everyone should visit at least one of these sorts of countries at least once in their life for this exact reason. Enjoy every minute of your adventure...and while I'm completely green with envy, I am unbelievably happy for you and chuffed to bits you were brave enough to go over there initially and have been able to experience it all. Love to you hun, Jo xxx

There's a wee bit about Altamira district on wikipedia - says the highlights are a big street and a congested highway exit! Classy!
Love to Bob and Bee when they arrive. Happy end to a looong story. We could all do with more of those. Chat soon
