I've been to that underground silk factory and that place is pretty cool (pardon the pun). You are so lucky to be able to go to tibet while we're preparing for AP's. Hope you get well soon.
Hey I forgot to tell you, the other day when I was at work I had to walk to the mailbox and I saw your car and I was like OMG Maggie- then I realized that you were in China-it was kinda sad- but at least I reconized your car. I think your mom might have been at the dentist. Ok be safe and have fun-ciao
heheh Hey. I left you a message for your previous entry about the BTV 1. (if you dont know who i am..)
I am glad you ate pig's heart! heheh, actually as a Beijing ren, I have NEVER eaten that before, and some of my chinese freinds laugh at me and say i am not a true Beijing Ren~~~heheh, for me it has a weird smell....heheh The reason I am glad that you ate it is becasue it shows that you are very open minded girl and willing to expeirence different things. For me, that is what life is about. :) Go to different places and be with the locals and learn. Experience, even the bad ones will help you grow as a more colorful person. :) anyways, I will follow your blog. Good luck in China, and please say hi to Jingshan for me!!!:)
I went to JingShan!! Hey, I googled randomly online about travelling in Beijing, and got to this blog site... saw you picture and immediately recognized your school uniform!! haha I am from BJ, and went to JingShan from 6 to 17 year old!!!! Then, I left and came to the states, now i am working in chicago. i am sorry about your television thing... BTV 1 and many other television stations in china have their own purpose of showing news, mostly politically influenced.....I am not saying it is bad, but it might NOT show the most exciting part because of their priorities are different than western TV stations~~~~ I am glad you are enjoying your stay there. Are you in middle school? or high school? OMG, I miss JingShan sooo much!!!! Maybe you now sit in a classroom I used to sit in.. :P All the best to you and your freinds!!
nanmarietta@hotmail.com is my msn. :)
Hi Maggie, I met some Chinese people in the western part of Norway about three years ago. They were riding horse and buggys up towards the glaciers. We had to walk up- we couldn't afford the horse ride. I think they enjoyed the trip to the western part of Norway like we all did. We are enjoying reading about your experience in China. Could you please write next time in Chinese? Love, Grandpa
you ate the heart-Maggie please come home- eating a heart of a pig, I don't know what to say. I hope your feeling ok! At least now you can say that you ate a pig heart!
oh maggie ok well i cant read any of this b/c its all squares for me but the pictures say it all. hilarious. simply hilarious. i love your costume. nick gives you major kudos girl. LOVE YOU.
Apparantly since I have two host sisters I get to choose whose class I want to attend, on any given day. So I guess if you ever decide that you no longer want to be friends with the Chinese kids in your class, let me know :)
*laughs* Okay, that made my day. Good thing you worked it all out. Mr. Zhu will beam with pride once he hears of one of his little students doing so well in China. ;) Hope all continues to go well.
Truth unto its inner most parts I'm so proud that you spoke your truth and that you managed to reach an amicable agreement w/ your host family. It must be astonishing for you to grapple w/ these tough issues in another language. Whatever you're learning will stay with you forever. Can't wait to see more pictures and learn more about your travels. Be well and ENJOY!
hey i am maggie and i'm currently participating in a four month exchange to beijing, china. i am super excited to explore the city, practice my chinese with my host family, and experience chinese life as more than just a lao wai (foreigner).
