Climbing Kili Hey there,
To be completely honest I didn't really do heaps of specifc training. I was cycling to work 2 days a week for about 12 months prior to leaving. It wasn't a long journey - 5 min there (all down hill) then 15 min home due to going up hill. About 5 weeks before I left, I joined a gym because my friend who is a personal trainer convinced me I need more strength in my legs for coming down the mountain as it puts alot of pressure on your thighs. An instructor set up a program of few weights combined with the cross trainer and treadmill (on the steepest setting it goes). I went four times a week for about an hour at a time. I found it really hard to go to the gym as I HATE gyms but do think it helped improve my muscle tone.
You'll have so much fun. It's an amazing trip experience but I won't lie to you, it was hard but definately worth it. We had alot of snow too which made it even more challenging.
Hope that helps!!
Margaret
Congrat's on an Awesome climb Hi there,
First off: Yay, you made up Mt. Kilimanjaro, i'm jealous and can't wait to do it myself! Any advice for a girl who comes from Texas ( a very flat area by the way) on how to get in shape for a killer climb like yours? Any extra advice??
PS---Hopefully, i'll do the climb in summer of 2008...I'll be climbing mt/ kili for breast cancer charity.
Pura Vida,
Claudia C.
Thank you so much for everything. It was such a wonderful stay. Definately come and visit whenever you want too. You're always welcome. Hope the in-laws visit is going well.

Looking forward to catching up It has been great to read your blogs and experience your travels "with you" so to speak. I am looking forward to catching up with you again when you are back in Australia.
Sorry you've on;y just received a link to them. I didn't realise until quite late in the trip that they weren't coming through. I'm still a bit baffled as to why they don't send automatically. Glad you enjoyed them though. See you when I get back. M
NOW I AM REALLY JEALOUS! Hey petal, you are still going! I have just caught up on a few more of your blogs and it looks and sounds like you are having an awesome time. Good on you, you are certainly getting to see and do a variety of things while you are over there. The Vic Falls jump looks wicked and the little tiger cubs are so cute! I would ask you to bring one back for me but I don't think the puppies would like it too much! Looking forward to seeing more blogs coming through. Take care, be safe and continue having a ball, can't wait to hear about all your stories when you get back. LOL. Shea.xoxox

Kids Kids in 7H love your story. THey are so amazed. Told them about climbing the flag pole. People, only MVH would do that just because it was there!!! Proud of you kid!
Not sure what's happening... Hey Mum,
Marcus said the same thing. I'm not sure why that's happened. Glad you found them. I'm overdue for another but haven't been able to get fast or reliable connections which really impacts on the time it takes to upload photos. Will get it done in the next day or two.
Miss you. Love M xx
LOST in Cyberspace JUst found your blogs thru Google. Not coming thru in emails. Boo Hoo. so now I have caught up on your adventures! What a girl!! very proud of you.
maggie,
Love the shot of you in your poncho. The falls looks amazing. You are so cool for going to see that all on your own. Very impressed.
Something happened to the blogs. I was not receiving the link when you posted new ones. So I checked, since you mentioned bloging recently and found a few that I never received notice for. No worries though, as I am now all caught up and anxiously awaiting a new one. I resubscribed so my email should be there on your list of subscribers. Check for me though please. Don't want to miss any of the adventures.
xoxo

Maggie,
I know what you mean about traveling alone, but it is so much better, I think. If you are really bored, then do what I do... Look for a couple traveling together. They are usually arguing about something stupid. That always cheers me right up. Besides, who wouldn't want to sit and have a chat with you?
WHAT! Hold on, let me get this straight. You were atop a volcano who's 3rd peak used to be the highest till it collapsed? Is that right? Oh, then Im sure that is perfectly safe. Why didn't you say so? geez
Onwards and upwards I especially love your pics, so many beautiful faces, great to receive your news, thanks Margie!
Very much looking forward to your arrival in South Africa, may the adventure continue. Love from Trish x
That is great! Hey ya,
That is so good, the kids look really happy!
Sounds like you are having a great time. I'm jealous of your adventures, but looking forward to your next up-date. Add more photos of you in them, love the hair xx
