Hugs and Kisses,
Love your very favorite aunt!
Ok, ok, rock that boat! You rafting maniacs ! Great white water, I can tell and the pictures help for sure. I love being out there in the badlands and deserts, so I envy you.
Here's a tip from an old man: When you drive back, try some AM radio in the car from the heartland of America. I know it sounds odd and not fun to recommend, but I have hitched across America a few times, and gotten the white line fever, and so I know how bored sometimes the highway can be--- AM radio America is this time warp window into a separate realtiy out there in microwave space. Back in the day, my day, way before cell phones, color TV, Nike, when Elvis was King, and students were hitchhiking across the universe, the AM radio world of middle America was weird, wild, off the wall, and bizzaro. Lots of religious channels, and survialists, and other fringe elements that call in talk radio. Plus at night, AM radio gets stronger, and you can hear stations from 2 thousand miles away. Right there in your car, you can transport yourself from the asphalt reality to another zone. Back in the 50's uncle Pat and I used to be able to listen to baseball games with the Pirates on KDKA radio in Pittsburg, one of the first megawatt stations in the world. Plus if you like stories, try National Public radio's "This American Life." Now that's some interesting work. There are NPR stations in every city in the USA. Ok, I am done with my old man speech, love you, Uncle Tax
Can't hear you ! Today's the day I get to hear all about Yosemite ! Tried to call and send text messages but signals would delete attempts - I know your stay was magic and now you get to see Utah- one of my favourite places- are you going to Bryce Canyon or Zion or both ? Hear from you today !

Red or White ? Oh,San Francisco- I had such good years there ! and it was hard to say goodbye back then ( 1980 ! )...Never really explored Napa Valley so tell me everything. But remember Yosemite well as I went there many times. It gonna be cold at night so get out that Hot Water Bottle !
Rain is coming ! Now that youre outa jail get outa town ! Downpours coming your way - as you go north to Napa Valley - its not as bad so drink as much as possible !
Hello California Gypsies ! From the canyons to the desert to the mountains to The Pacific Coast - Youre at The Edge ! With The Fog and The Hippies ! Do you see whales and Peace Signs ? paisley and painted faces ? Ah,The Electric Cool Aid Acid Test ! Look for The Green Light !
Mallory is right Mallory is right ! Hit the mules, stay away from everyone till the flu goes by! And I add: take showers in booze to cleanse the skin of any virus, and for the hell of it. Love the pix, the south rim is indeed the top and center of the world! Uncle Tax
haha O'Neil's butte... :P sounds like you guys are having a great time... i'm very jealous while i'm stuck here at JI, well actually stuck in bed... been in bed for a week! Missing you guys... enjoy Big Sur and San Fran :)
haha gee Pete, check out the road trip fluff... looking all manly and stuff now :P nice horses... bet they were a little easier to ride than donkeys but i still think donkeys were the order of the day :)
YOU ARE MY STARS !!!!! Our ALS team raised almost 20 thousand dolars !!! Harper flew in from California as a happy surprize- Henry in from New York and all went well despite the heat wave of 90degrees....I wait to hear from you and get so excited when I see your blog about mules and stars and hikes with Photographs. I fly back to Boston tomorrow via Bufalo,Ny hoping NOT to get Swine Flu . I and The Stars follow You !
Mule Brawl!? That's hilarious. I had flashbacks of you wanting to smack that JW horse in the head... actually smacking Navigator in the head... and now a mule. Excellent. Where's that picture? Stay away from Mexicans; they have Swine Flu.
Wow----How lucky are you guys! Hey, Culver and Pete, sounds like you are having a great trip. So cool that you can share it with us like this. Please take pictures of Pete on the horse----I remember when he had a pony at one of his birthday parties! Have fun----be safe! Love from the Murrays!
Photos are Magnificent ! Pete - You are The Coolest Dude ! wearing cowboy boots-riding canyons and now eating bean burritos beside a campfire ! The blog allows me to follow along on the trip so say Hello to the Colorado and I'll listen for the echo !
I wanna live out there Hi Culver and Peter: Love your pix ! You both look young and strong. The pix also help me to remember how magical that landscape can be. I was at chellyback in the 70's and I love that feeling of the desert. Look over by the tree near the cliff near the old hut--about 40 paces to the south of there---I buried some drugs at the very foot of the tree, and forgot them--- if you dig em them up, they are mine, you little rascals! Very glad you are there, can you see the stars at night
or what?? No wonder ancient mankind believed the gods lived up there.
What an unbelievable trip you guys are on. So happy for you. Can't tell you how much we appreciate your blogs. It's like you are taking us with you. Stay safe.
Keep on truckin...uh, riding Your trip sounds as if you're uin a whole new world of adventure, sunshine and exploration. I loved reading about the cows everywhere...I find them very soothing to watch. Your Mom and I are having lunch with an exhausted Alex today and the weather report for this weekend's ALS fundraising walk looks great.
Take care on the road,
Choux
I can Hear You Whisper ! Most Happy of Moms to hear from you and the latest adventures ! You really are doing what you dreamed of doing and Pete gets the Prize for even getting on a horse let alone climbing canyons... Fall into The Canyon and say Hello to Chevy Chase - Hi Taxi !
Reported Putnam to Peta Hi Culver, looks like after you get that cowboy hat and steak you will have to head up to Folsom Prison cuz I turned your Dad in for shootin those buzzards 40years ago. Youse should be hearing from the govment any day now.
Elvis is NOT buried there No way Elvis is buried at Graceland ! He cant be cuz he aint dead yet. The King has been spotted all over the USA as he continues to tour secretly only playing for his close-est friends. Just you wait!
Welcome to the Wild West ! I've never been to New Mexico and am quite jealous- I go the Charlotte tomorrow but will be checking every day for your well written emails. Wishing you mesa rainbows and Long Views while wearing your Cowgirl Boots !
I did go to arkansas and oklahoma for a couple of weeks when I was about 14- to a logging camp hunting lodge of a lumber company- my friends uncles company- it was hilly woodlands/ timber with rocky streams- tornados, giant wild boars- mostly we just shot dr pepper sodacans with 22 rifles, and water snakes in the river-fished for alligator gars but didnt catch any, and violated what would be a bunch of laws nowadays-like shooting at buzzards from back of a pickup truck in tronado weather- came home with chewing tobacco, one rattle snake rattle and there was crystaline quartz . no lawyers runnin everyones life out there...yet
Marathon Monday in Boston Can't find your Graceland Entry from yesterday and now I can't find you ! Texas with sage brush or Albuquerque with serapes ? You guys are really Out West Now !
