Just caught up on all the blogs Laura, I was at your house for dinner Saturday night, so I had Cathie forward me all of your blogs because we haven't been getting them. She sent me 7 of them going back to November and I just sat and read all fo them.
What a fantastic account of your trip, you should be writing for a living.
I hope you have a fantastic Safari and look forward to talking to you two when you get back home.
Take care you two!
You guys are awesome We have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your excursions....the kids as well!! Scott was glad to hear that you were enjoying some Cadbury chocolate too!! Nice to hear that things seem to be turning around since your initial experiences.
Take care, The Curries ;))
Oh my god, those lion cubs are the cutest things I've ever seen! I can't believe you got to hold them--I am very jealous. And nice flip flops in that one picture. Glad they're working out for you ;) I saw the Family Stone last week and loved it. I haven't cried that hard in a long time. Diane Keaton always blows me away and I know I'll like any movie she's in. I was glad to see a Christmas movie because it really didn't feel very Christmassy this year, since we got home right as it was happening. Alex will just die when I show him the pictures of the cubs.
Keeping up! Have been watching the Lisbon-Dakar Race and now what should I be looking for -the Laura-John Rally? Glad you are seeing so much - it is minus 8 today, Dont you wish! Keep trekking on - love.
Aunt I hear you had a great chat with your families on Christmas Day. I hope your last weeks in Dakar were pleasant. Think of all the wonderful food that's ahead of you now!
Much love,
m

Well, I just discovered I can make a comment I just had a look at all the pictures you have added and they are great......they really help me relate to your stories. Can't wait for the next entry. Stay safe, love you dearly.
Don't pick up any stompies I hope you guys are taking lots of photos!! I can't wait to see them. Writing these travel blogs was such a good idea, I feel like I'm right there in Africa with you. Well, it's snowing here so I definitly don't have a sunburn.. but I'm there in spirit!
Hiya Hey Guys!
It sounds like you are having a real experience there! Do you think you'll stay longer than 6 months? I can't wait to visit Africa, my best friend is from Johannasberg (in SA) and she is back now until after christmas. Halloween just past here for us in cold Canada. Emily was a chicken (hehehe) she looked so cute. I hope all is well with you, and look foreward to hearing more about Dakar.

Laura, John...
It's hard to think of you experiencing these crazy things! I'm so glad you're enjoying it so far, and I think this travel log thing is a great idea...what a good way to keep track of the memories. And don't worry about it being too long, I thought it was really interesting. Everyone misses you here; I hope you guys stay safe and healthy :)

WOW!! Hey guys!!
So good to hear all about your adventures! Sounds like you are really living a very Senegalese experience, I am so proud of you both for being so open minded and willing to try anything!! You are inspiring that's for sure!! Good luck finding an apartment, it would be great to have a bit of freedom to really explore without feeling like you are committing a 'cultural faux pas'! I'll keep this brief so that you don't waste all of your time reading this, but keep the blogs coming, I love reading about what you are up to! I love you both and miss you lots!! Have fun and don't melt!!

haha, tubab! guys that was the most interesting reading material i've had in a long time! i can't wait to read your next entry - i feel like i'm reading a novel it just sounds so surreal. i'm so glad to hear that you're having a great time - i'm a little jealous (minus the toilets and feeling dirty part - after all, i am a compulsive hand washer so i don't think i'd do so hot in dakar!)
write again soon and take care :)
