We try the traditional Lamplough family Sunday breakfast.......McDonalds. Yuck! Food is awful and when you order a coffee, they give you a token to use in a coffee machine! We have to go and have another breakfast to make up for it. Wander down to the local Sunday food markets (fish, bread, cheeses, meat, wine, flowers, fruit & veg, etc.)and buy some dips, olives, cheese, bread for later. Then we walked to the Louvre (only 5 mins) It's huuuge! So we just do the mandatory Mona Lisa and early french and italian paintings........i will go back alone and do some audio tours at my leisure. Bob and Justin return home to watch rugby so Kathy and I stroll down the Seine to Ile de la Cite and check out Notre Dame and the hundreds of riverside stalls ... read more

Big sleep in today. Still wake up feeling rotten. Got no clothes. Manage to find some of Bobs that fit (sort of..............and no, they're not too small) to go out and pick up some food. Hibernate until Bob comes home early and my bag finally arrives 24 hours late. Dinner at a Thai restaurant where we are served by a very lovely thai girl? with big shoulders and a deep voice. The streets around us are full of tiny restaurants, food and clothing shops. Amazing Boulangeries (bakeries), Creperies. There are dogs of all sizes, everywhere (including pharmacies and supermarkets). Can you imagine taking Rusty into a supermarket?Generally very well behaved but there are no laws about doggy doos. Everyone smokes, everywhere (including at the restaurant table beside you). Home for a nap before Justin and Kathy ... read more

32 hours and Iv'e finally made it! We take to RE train into the city and Bob's apartment at 52 rue D'Argout, 75002 Paris tel. 01 42 21 47 75. The apartment is sooo quaint! Just like the pictures. First dinner at 'Little Italy' restaurant. Great food but tiny restaurant as most are.......just a row of tables on each side of the room. They have to pull out the table so that you can sit down on the bench seat along the side of the room, then push it back in. Home to bed......asleep before my head touches the pillow.... read more

Back across the channel, in reverse. Can see the white cliffs of Dover........beautiful countryside............my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower! Bob is there to meet me, I can see him through the glass, but where is my luggage? Wait, wait, wait ask at the British Airways desk...........it's lost! Apparently it will arrive later tonight and be delivered tonight or tomorrow........lucky I have some spare undies!... read more

12 and a half hours! This time I agree to take the window seat so that the chucker can get out to the loos. Added advantage is that I can lean against the window and get a little sleep. Then I get moved forward a row so that I dont have anyone directly next to me .......hooray! Watch 'The man of the Month' - Robin Williams, also some documentaries about a 'Genius' Sperm bank and Vincent Van Gogh. The best part of this flight is that it is during the day and I have fantastic views throughout the journey. Central Asia just goes on and on and on desert.......mountains..........snow.......snow............snow...........snow, then Europe, I think I recognise Amsterdam (wish i had a larger scale map). Over the channel to England (wow, its so short...no wonder they swim it). ... read more

Didn't even realise I was flying through Hong Kong (wasn't on the ticket). Enormous airport but unfortunately nothing is open at that hour. Hang out in the lounge for an hour before emerging just in time for the next flight, only to find that the shops have opened.....damn!... read more

8 hours? Aisle seat next to two young girls from Essendon, on their way to London/Paris/Rome for 15 days. Nice girls, but the one next to me is airsick and spends quite a lot of time tossing her cookies...oh joy! A couple of hours sleep before landing in Hong Kong at 6am.... read more
