great post Kym. When I read your second sentence I thought I would point out that bias education has recently been an issue in Texas, but then I got to the final paragraph. That's really jaw-droppingly astounding. wow.

Wow! First and for most. I did not know or ever hear of these things in detail as you described it. I can underdstand being use to western culture and the lovely ammenities it provides and turning around and having practically nothing. So what can us Westerners offer you as an aid for comfort, or a peace offering to the poor tortured women down the street. Coffee?? LOL, candy from U.S.?? haha Waterguns?? maybe a little to harsh, water balloons perhaps? Well you let us know what we can offer to make your summer trip a pleasent one.BTW you looked lovely at the last two formal affairs you attened.
"The heat here is unbelievable. Today it was nearly 100 degrees with 100 percent humidity- a sticky combination that can soak your shirt in minutes. Neither my workplace nor my dorm has air conditioning, providing a dizzying experience, quite literally. If the temperature doesn’t drench you, the impromptu monsoons will. Yesterday a torrential downpour lasting no more than an hour flooded the streets with nearly a foot of water. I think I’m just going to have to accept the fact that while in Cambodia I will perpetually be hot, sticky, and wet."
That made me miss home.. a LOT! Enjoy the tropical weather! The impromptu monsoons are a treat to stand in! Much better than the Philly rain!
wow You really are in an entirely different world. I know you visited Cambodia during your Semester At Sea Voyage, but what was it about Cambodia that made you want to return? I can't wait to see some photos posted!
: ) haha love the story about the restaurant/home, that would happen to you (to us!) ha. it sounds like you're having a great experience and involved in some important stuff! good luck i miss you! and as usual i really enjoy reading your work
Hi I'm Kym! I'm a senior at the University of Pennsylvania and a devoted AIESECer. I am currently on an AIESEC traineeship in Cambodia as a communications intern at the Bophana Center in Phnom Penh. I've created this blog so that family, friends, and AIESEcers can check out my experiences abroad! Enjoy!... full info

Well think of it this way: You'll be immune to it all if and when you start your next AIESEC-in-the-third-world experience!
