Well, Ed--or can I call you Cousin Ed--thanks for checking out the post. I've heard several theories on the etymology of the name Killingbeck, and I appreciate this new one. Thanks for your comment.
My Ancestral Homeland as well!! My Great-Great Grandfather, Joseph, settled in Connecticut, USA in the late 1880s, and the Connecticut Killingbecks hail from Leeds. It was nice to see some images from your trip, and allow me to get a feel for our heritage.
The name "Killingbeck" itself, I think, translates to Man of the River, or Boss of the River.....going back to the Saxons and the Normans....according to a former Deputy Prime Minister of Education under Margaret Thatcher's term....he was visiting my next door neighbor, and he took a keen interest in looking up the name.
Anyway, thanks for your log on your trip....Ed Killingbeck, South Windsor, Connecticut.
Welcome Home! It has been so fun to read your blogs the last few months, and look at the picture with Madeline. My list of "places we need to visit" is now longer than it was six months ago. Of course, Nashville is at the top of the list. :)
Hope you adjust to being back and work and house hunting etc etc. Merry Christmas.
I know Killingbeck! Seth and Gretchen,
Nice to know you found Killingbeck OK. I live about twenty miles away. There used to be a good hospital there, which treated heart patients but it closed a few years ago. Enjoy the rest of your holiday!
Pat in North Yorkshire.
next time use all caps Don't think it escaped my attention that the mighty Utes from the University of Utah were always in lower case. That deserves a good tongue clucking and idle threats of violence upon your return. Your coogs were lucky to squeak by.
LOVE YOU Aunt Gretchen and Uncle Seth! I want you to come home safely before Christmas. Have good days in London. I love you so much. Thank you for the picture with my name. I have lots of candy from Halloween. I was a kitty cat. Thank you for my butterfly stickers and my letter. I love them! Good days!
I like the kissing picture I like the kissing picture best. I like Nana and Papa because they are coming back on Wednesday and we love them. Come home safely to Nashville, Nana and Papa. I miss Gretchen making lots and lots of jewelry. And the Pegasus is like the one on Barbie. Bye bye Uncle Gretchen and Aunt Seth! (giggle giggle)
Love,
Leighton
I agree Dave, I thought the same thing when I saw the picture. Maybe I've stumbled on to some Da Vinci Code type thing. Let's write a book and make millions...you in?
Take another look! If you take another look, you'll notice that there is a clock in the north tower! The south tower's clock is analog and the north tower's clock is digital!
Give up your day job! Honey, you don't need to find clients to live over there, you could always do stand-up comedy. Look at all the material you have already (not even including your own family), you'd be a shoe-in. For a second job you could write a book and title it "Traveling Abroad for Idiots". Love the photos too. Love you , Mom
Correction: Gretchen just read this blog entry and pointed out a French typo that I wrote repeatedly. Apparently "Sacre Coeur" is the name of that church--I spelled it wrong. Sorry about that.
The pic of Sister Merry, Bishop Bob and the Asian man sleeping on Bob's shoulder is a CLASSIC. Two thumbs up for catching that one on film. I'm totally cracking up!
Again I find that I failed to educate you as a child. Sorry you didn't know what Wedgewood is, however comma I'm not all that surprised. Weren't you a junior in high school before you knew cotton didn't come from sheep???
Great, Madeline! Madeline--you're already typing! We know that you've loved the computer for quite some time, so congrats on taking the next step. (But it does look like Daddy must have helped you with the spelling...)
I had a tape of George Michael's Faith that I wore out, but no Wham. I am quite fond of the song, though. "Tonight the music seems so loud, I wish that we could lose this crowd. Maybe it's better..."
Keep enjoying yourselves.
Wow..you ahev a nice mansion... Hey guys!!! how are ya'll? Wow...youve been to all places there now. The pictures were all pretty informative. Im enjoying it. It seem like Im in London just by reading and looking at the pictures you took. Keep it up!!!
