Hola Hi Kayce,
I'm glad you are having so many wonderful experiences. I love your descriptions, and pictures, you could write for a travel book, maybe you should think about that. Keep up the good work. Miss you, love you, Gramma
June 2nd 2010 Hey KK: Missed you for a few days while Pat and I attended the 90th birthday party of my old squadron CO-WWll in Medford,OR. and then took the RV and dogs to visit Crater Lake,OR and 12' of snow. It was almost as much fun as you all have in LaPaz knocking off a 6 pack with the local parade watchers!! Love you ,Gramps
Wow Have just had time to start reading up on what you've been up to - WOW! This entry in particular caught my eye. I never thought about how much information could be gathered without a video ultrasound. So much about ob/gyn I don't know!
Those green eyes Hi Dudes! It sounds like your green eyes were getting you a lot of special attention - beers, umbrellas, front row seats, etc. Ha ha. While traveling is good there is something to say about just having a relaxing weekend at home. It was so good to Skype last night and see your beautiful smile. You are halfway way there - hooray! Love you, momma xxoo
thanks Kayce, it appears you are having a great experience, I look forward to seeing you when you get back from your trip. I also look forward to your future updates. Steve
Homecoming Great pics Honey! I'm so happy you were able to make it to Cuzco/Machu Picchu, my old stomping grounds :)
You have really adopted the backpacker's mentality, can't wait to start adventuring with you.
thanks Thank you for going to my country and trying to do some good. Unfortunately things will get a lot worse in the medium term. There is a new law whereby a family gets a cash bonus for each newborn child. Needless to say, many poor women will be forced to have more kids, because the bonus is very large compared to what they earn working on the fields.
4th Entry Hey KK: We're with you all the way via our armchairs...really enjoy your adventures and we don't have to hike !7Km (almost 6 miles) with a pack on one's back. Was the lake trout as good as Monterey Bay salmon? Do they have Nurse Practioners in La Paz? Take care Gramps
Good to hear from you. Hi,
I love to hear in detail what you are doing, and learning. It's quite a culture shock isn't it. Also so sad to see the children who are sick, and uneducated. Bollivia has a long way to go to change that. Have you heard if they have any programs in the works to do that? I have Skype, and would love to connect with you when you have time.
Love,
Grammy Jo
Third Entry? Pat wants to know if that was a bidet you were checking out at the Black Market? It's been rainig here the last week or so and the lake has risen to where it is ONLY 75' from the top and begining to look like it was last year when you all were up here. Have had visitors: Dave/ Lisa for a week, JT/ Pauline followed them for a few days before they returned to SD and completed their final packing for Manilla. Depart on June 1st with dog and their Mercedes for an extended stay in their new home. Maybe a year but i'm betting against it. Love Gramps
Second Entry 5/10/'10 Hey KK: I'm worried about all the infectious lung ailments you and Mary Beth have to deal with each day!! Solution: Double martinis each evening should provide adequate protection..... or you wouldn't care anyway!!! love Gramps
1st Entry Pat and I are amazed at your expertise in blogging with photos etc. You transfer the pics. from your cell phone/Ipod? La Paz at 12K feet!!! Hope your lungs are becoming accustomed to the altitude. We visited Crater Lk. last week in the RV at 7880'. Beautiful. We will try and visit your lonesome Mother in the near future and help with the Johaan's chores. Adios and love Gramps
Interesting Blog Very interesting information Dudes. I can only imagine the frustration the doctors must feel. I really liked these pictures of the people you are spending your days with. The doctors seem very accommodating about having their picture taken - the little girl with Dr. Velasco is adorable! Love you, momma xxoo
Excited for you! Wow... you must be having an amazing time! I promise, it gets easier and easier, and better and better as time goes on... and by the end of it you will not want to leave (except maybe to see Johaan) :) ... have a wonderful time and I am going to keep reading your blog, I love it! xo, Anna
Thanks for this, Hi Sweetie,
I finally got on your blog with the help of Krista. I'm computer illeterate, but learning. This is so wonderful to know what you are doing, and with pictures too. You look very professional in your white coat. I'm so glad you are enjoying yourself, and learning so much. I had a long visit with Krista the other day, it was really nice to "catch up" with her. She sounds very grounded, and happy which makes me happy too.
Keep those blogs coming, i really like knowing what you are doing, you are getting such good experiences, you will never forget this time of your life. Take care, i love you, and miss you. Love, Gramma
Yuck! Hey Dudes - great update and pictures but I probably could have lived without seeing the llama fetuses! I am sooo glad you are feeling better and it was great seeing you tonight on Skype. I am thinking of taking a Spanish class this summer just so I can keep you in practice when you get home!
Love, Mom xxoo
Hey sis seems like you are having a good time. I miss you a lot and so does Petey (he told me so). I hope we get to skype soon because I miss your face! I love you so much and I can't wait to read your next entry. Love love love tootie
Hospital del Nino Kayce - Thanks for taking the time to put all the pictures in your blog. Just like the earlier ones of your home-stay, these make it easy for me to visualize your day and what your are doing. You look so doctor-ish in your lab-coat and stethoscope around your neck! I see that Mary Beth also has a pink stethoscope......did she get hers for graduation too? Love you Dudes - Momma
Hi! I am a recent graduate of UCSB '09 and want to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. I have always had a strong desire to volunteer in a medical setting abroad, and am now doing that through Child Family Health International. I will be participating in a two month pediatric volunteer program in La Paz, Bolivia. ... full info
