Congratulations! Well done you! The MacKinnons of LK have just adored your updates. We have felt that we have been there with you some of the time although you may dispute that!
Can't wait to hear the rhino story and see zillions of photos and actually ... just to give you a big hug!
Welcome home!
not crowed / electricity off Seems like you enjoyed your stay in nepal. Thank you for letting people know that nepal's electricity goes on and off unexpectedly. Although the country is rich of water and rivers with strength to generate hydro-powered electricity much has to be done to provide continues electricity. I callled my sister a few days back and this is what she told me: "oh, electricity is weak, sometime some lights don't turn on, also computer, electricity has a schedule- this hour for that part of kathmandu and that hour for there" alot of the people do not know this. Travelers staying in star hotels will get constant electricity although even some small hotels have started installing alternative power supply for the comfort of their customers. When in nepal specially during the dry season it is worth finding out the schedule of electricity loadshading.
I agree with you on the crowd topic. Delhi is much crowed and so is new york. Anyways, hope you had a great time in our country and we are so sure next you will bring another friend to visit our land. Have a wonderful day today.
off to nepal Great to read about the monastery, was there seriously a dead man preserved in salt? Is that what they do with the dead?I struggle dto imagine that.I have learnt so much both being in India and through you.Hope you managed to get to Nepal,be safe and don't do anything too reckless I'd like you home in one piece!Only another 12 days left of your adventure make the most of it and you will remember it forever.Lv mxx
Hi Hi there,
I have been regularly reading the blogs post by you and really finding it very intresting. So you had a good experience. I am looking forward to know about your travelling experience in India so keep on posting the beautiful and intresting messages.
Regards,
Naveen
Natural History Lessons Well, I must be getting brave as I'm posting my 2nd comment to you now. Or... the red wine is doing a particularly good job tonight.
Kiddies and adults alike enjoying updates on Indian wildlife. The bit about peacocks - I said "Well, I didn't know that". Euan and Duncan both immediately said "I did". Left behind by 8 year olds, I ask you.
Anyway, it seems as if you have been away for a month, Karen, with all that you are fitting in.
We are looking forward to the lecture tour on your return - lots of lizard, chipmunk, monkey, spider etc slides please.
So glad you are having such an experience, the two of you!
Kx
Being daring...! Hello Katie and Karen,
I'm being very daring and making a posting. Only because Euan has been trying to make one since Saturday and something was obviously been wrong with the system ... or else Katie really, really, really didn't want to have to answer any more questions about lizards or spiders!
Can't tell you how relieved I was to hear that you had made contact with each other. My eyes were watering too!
Thank you for your fabulous postings - descriptions so realistic I could almost feel that I was there myself. However... tucking myself up with a hot water bottle back here in Lt Kimble does have it's own particular soothing qualities!
I found myself crossing my legs and sucking in my cheeks (top and bottom ones!) when I read about the 7 hour bladder holding journey. Euan has been trolling through his Guiness Book of Records to see if you could earn a mention in this year's annual. It looks like you're in with a good chance apparently!
Katie, thanks for your fabulous, completely-tuned-in-to-each-member-of-the-family letter. We did another "Hush, pray be silent for the latest missive from an important cousin/neice" round the table job. Really I should have videoed it, so that you could have seen all the interest and comments and questions that ensued. I think that you may have to join us round that table when you come back to deal with the onslaught. Preparation beforehand... yes, you've got it ... think lizards, spiders and monkeys!
All I can say is Well done me hearties. (We've recently seen Pirates of the Caribbean... sorry). Can't wait to see you both in the flesh, on your respective returns.
Meantime... enjoy, learn, live, enjoy, learn, live, enjoy, learn, live etc etc!
Kx

thank you!!! Thank you for raising such a level headed fun brillant girl - my life in india would have been much less fun without her and i probably would have done a thousand stupid things had she not been sensible enough to take care of me!!! After three months of hearing how "boss" liverpool is i'm definately coming soon - sounds amazing! :) according to nats you are the fountain of all knowledge :) thanks for your invite!i look forward to having a good convo and a nose around the wirral in the near future!!! same goes for good old kent of course anytime you fancy i feel like i know you already! take care of her :)
Thanks Thanks to Katie and karen for taking care of our Nat. I cant wait to collect her on Friday. Hope you enjoy the remaining time in India and please feel free to come and sample the delights of the Wirral in the near future. We probably cant match the prices in your Indian fast food restaurant but we can definitley offer a few burnt burgers and an excellent view over the cityscape of Liverpool from our house suplemented with a few glasses of wine......
Wildlife Hi katie. I sent you an email but I don't know if it got to you. Some of it was about spiders. I too have a huge spider phobia but in India I didn't see a single one because I just pretended there weren't any - never looked in dark corners, and was usually too knackered to care.
Louis found a picture of the biggest spider in the world. A monster that eats birds, but you are very lucky because it lives in Brazil.
Monkeys are a pain. They are allowed to wander all over the places of interest you want to see and are even encouraged because they represent the god Hanuman. I think Rajasthan is full of them.
We are really enjoying your blog - do you think you could continue it when you go travelling. Have they got Cyber cafes there now, in the cities at least? I'm such an old fart I have no idea what India is like now and it'll be so fascinating to hear about what's changed.
Katie, I really hope you enjoy your travels. Read some Kipling.
Kipling? Rudyard work but it's worth it.
We'll keep watching this space for more exciting instalments.....
lots of love from the London MacKinnons xxxxx
Spider Kaitie what happened to the spider in the cupboard? Did you squash it? Did it run away? Is Lionel friends with it? Have they been smooching? Love from Euan xxxx p.s Iwrote all the blogs myself xx

Not long now and you can see more of India and sample some more experiences.Take care keep writing love mx
Ring a ring of noses! Katie, do you like having your nose pierced?
I have heard lots of rumours that you won't be able to blow your nose!
Also a mosquito might go inside your nose and never stop
snogging your fly! Get the joke! I bet I'm making you feel queasy now!
Talking of jokes I've got one: An Englishman an Irishman and a
Scotsman were walking through a field when they saw a cow.
The Englishman said "look it's an English cow." The Irishman said "no, it's an Irish cow." The Scotsman said "no, you're both wrong. It's a Scottish cow. See, it's got bagpipes underneath!!!!"
Love from Euan xxxxxxxxxx

(This only took about 50 minutes for Duncan to write Katie! - lots of effort and concentration for a mini-minor!)
Euan has said that he's going to write next ... and be prepared ... he wants all the gorey and toe-curling details of your nose-job!!!
Thinking of you always. Love all you blog!
