Did you notice the smell? The first thing I noticed when I arrived in Saigon was the smell. Don\'t know where it came from but it permeated everything I wore. I did get used to it after a couple of weeks. When I was there I also took a bunch of pics and posted them to my blog, http://www.TheVietnamTraveler.com.
I actually didn't notice them smell at all, now that im thinking about it. I was probably just too blown away by all the motorbikes that are bustling by.
Thanks for the link Ill check it out
Long time Hey Katy Mula (like your new name!),
Mitch was just visiting our land of chocolate and cheese and shared your blog with me. Nice to see you are having a great time and experiencing Thailand in its different shapes and forms :)
PS. there is no going back on the spicy taste buds. I carried a bottle of tabasco in my purse for a few months after I came back from Pakistan.

mmm chocolate and cheese that is one thing that Europe has on asia. Most people don't eat dairy here- so you can only get really really expensive cheese and processed cheese.
I think I will have to do what you do and carry tabasco around aswell.
Thanks for checking out my blog.
Hope the family is doing well! Sam must be getting so big now- around 3 and a half I guess?
Reflections & realities Hi Kathleen,
I haven't checked in for a while, but tonight took a little time to catch up on your adventures in Thailand. It's always amazing to realize how many things we take for granted in this wonderful country call Canada and even in our own families. Reading your stories makes me appreciate even more all the wonderful people, especially family, who have helped to shape my life. I am truly blessed. Thanks for reminding me.Enjoy the rest of your stay and I hope to see you over Christmas.
the best medicine If only I could write to humour you as you humour me! I have read that laughter is the best medicine and I have grown to believe this. Try to use your creative mind to find humour in the daily existence around you and you may find a little healing.
Uncle joe Hi Kathleen, I am enjoying your travel blog immensely. It sound like quite an adventure you are having. Keep up the great work. Just wanted to let you know that Uncle joe is doing well and is going home tomorrow. No surgery required. All the prayers for him have been answered.
Glad you're better Dear Katie,
I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better and are out of the hospital. Your poor Mom must have been feeling so helpless with you sick, and thousands of miles away. So I'm happy for both of you. It sounds as though the headmistress is a lovely lady. It's nice to have someone baby you and look after you when you're sick. Keep recuperating and soon you'll be back to your usual bubbly self.

Kathleen is recovering Just to let you know Kathleen has not abandoned her blog but she is recovering in a Mae Sot hospital. It appears that she has contracted some type of bacteria. She is resting and feeding intravenously.
You are definitely a Little princess! Do you have a copy of The Little Prince" with you. Every time you reread you will feel more inspired. I am so glad this writing has allowed you to see the perspective of the children. What a blessing for both of you.
Happy days! Hi Kthleen.
I received your blog sign on from your mom the other day.
I have enjoyed reading your articles about your new life style and the people of Thailand. Your positive and uplifting atitude comes through in your writing. Be safe and enjoy your week.

Such beautiful images.
And memories.
I read a book"Out of teh Dust"
to my students a little while

inspired by a young girl's ability to thrive
under the burden of tradegy
and loss.
I will send it.
Keep writing, please.
It is obviously a gift you have been

This makes me smile. This sounds like the little girl I have known and loved for almost 21 years. I told someone at school the other day that of all of my children , you are the one who remains chidlike not childish) in nature. this is a beautiful characteristic and in this piece of writing the child love of pouring rain is evident. It will warm your heart on days of sadness and warm the heart of strangers and friends on days when the sun is shining inside your soul.
love mom
Hi! Dear Katie,
I am enjoying following your adventures in Thailand. I think you are very adventurous and brave...good for you! It sounds like you are having lots of fun despite thinking you are not "assimilating". You've only been there a couple of weeks. I'm sure it will take time to adjust to living in a country where everything is so different from home. How does Matilda like it there? Have you learned to speak a few words of Thai?
Keep the updates coming; they make great reading. Have fun and stay safe,
Jan
The beginning Hi Kathleen,
I just wanted to wish you well on your new venture. I know you'll do just fine. Thailand will be enriched by your stay there.
Take good care of Matilda and we will see both of you in the New Year.
Love Aunt Kass
Best wishes Best wishes as you embark on this incredible journey. Laura sent me the link to your blog, so I will be following you (and Matilda?)on your adventures. Have fun and be safe,
Jan
