I started this blog in late 2007, before heading off to Australia for a hang gliding adventure. After my first solo flight in a hang glider all I wanted to do was fly as much as possible. I gave up my job as a human resources consultant and headed to Australia to live my dream of hang gliding. When I returned after four months, I wanted to build my life around the sport I loved so much, and I did. I was also determined to make it into the national hang gliding team and started flying competitions with only one year of flying experience.
My dream was shattered in early 2009, when I almost killed myself in a hang gliding accident. It took me almost a year to recover from it - physically. Mentally it took a lot longer. Since this accident had been what I considered the last warning for me - I had been way too keen and ambitious - I made the hardest decision in my whole life: to give up hang gliding.
However, I was lucky to be able to start working for the most awesome company on the planet, cut-e. Through my job I get to travel a lot, and my blog has become an important means for me to digest all my experiences. But I also write it for the people out there - I know there are quite a few of my family members and friends who enjoy reading it, so I'm always happy to share my stories.
I think the outline of my blog that TBer Home and Away (Bob Carlsen) gives is pretty much to the point: "She has been a TBer since 2007. At that time she dedicated herself to becoming a world class hang glider until she had a bad accident (lift just stopped) in Australia and spent months in the hospital (both in Australia and then back in her native Germany) with multiple operations for broken bones and then physical therapy. She wisely decided to retire from hang gliding and took up triathlon even before her bones were fully healed. She just got her PhD in psychology and moved to Singapore. She continues to travel to hang gliding (not as a competitor) and triathlon competitions, and goes to many psychology symposiums, combining business with pleasure." Thank you Bob :-)
