addition I am amazed by your incursion in these remote areas of Central Vietnam. My second son named Sonny Vu has been in these areas before.I think that he will be a wonderful companion for you..He is doing the same business like your Dad,making medical devices in Boston ( MA) and he used to travel a lot, all over the world and of course Vietnam...with a back pack.

Hi just passed thru your blog by chance. Great blog. I have a few comment for the Pho you are eating in Hanoi. In Hanoi, birth place of pho, they don't serve pho with mint leaves and bean sprout (that the southern version)...Vietnames word for older women/sister is "chi"
WBB Wow! This is almost like a free trip to Vietnam without the jetlag. Great blog, Kate! You've got my nomination for WBB (world's best blogger). Yeah, maybe I'm a teeny bit biased. Be safe. Sounds like you're already having plenty of fun. Easy on that bia hoi. Love you!

Cathedral Well, both of you seem to be right, the cathedral is build in neo-gothic style, but according to Maya, it is of catholic religion. (to Maya, if she reads it: gothic is not a religion but an architectural style, eg. the Parliament in Hungary is also built in neo.gothic style.)

Heroes' Square Hello!
You missed the caption of the 4th picture, as it appears to be taken at Firherman's bastion, in front of the statue of Saint Stephen, the first Hungarian king. The 'real' Heroes's square looks like this: http://www.omniplan.hu/2003-BudapestXmas/7365-HeroesSquare.jpg . And yes, my Polish friend also told me that Hungarian is the craziest sounding language he had ever heard of... (but finally he could manage to learn a few phrases to impress the girls :-)
