Absolutely entertaining description of events made me feel like I was with you..extremely entertaining review and also helpful should mom ever get me to travel so far! Keep it up, please continue to have a great time as your world wind tour continues.
I love you Kaileeā¦see you soon!
very sweet Kailee,
This post is very sweet - truly from the heart. I know how sad you were to leave your Moroccan family :( I also know how grateful you and I both were to them. They were wonderful to you. You will always be in each other's hearts. I do hope you get the opportunity to see them again some day. I would love to meet them as well and thank them for the special care they gave to you <3 In your blog I particularly liked the part about how you realize how important family is :) Aren't you lucky that you have two families now!!! xoxoxox Mom <3
Happy Eid Wow Kailee, you are certainly becoming progressive in your ways there in Morocco. I'm so glad you are able to share all of this with the rest of us as it opens our eyes to what might have been some pre-conceived notions of the traditions over there. You are learning so much, and not just in the classroom. I hope you are having a fantastic time in Italy on break and I can't wait to see you in 7 1/2 weeks, (not that I'm counting!) Love you <3 Mom
Well put Kailee, your analysis and comparisons between the two cultures, (ours and the one you currently reside in) is very enlightening to those who have never seen the latter. I completely agree with a society that raises (and slaughters) animals exclusively for whatever part of that animal will benefit the family etc. and Im sure that they waste nothing in doing so. It is hard for someone (like me for example) to look at our pets, both past and present and see them as luxuries but you paint such a logical picture with your words, it becomes clear as day. They are indeed expensive and by comparison, useless other than the company they provide so I can see how this would be viewed by other cultures.
I am, as you know a big carnivor but that has never meant that I condone our factorious (word)?? methods of preparing most meats.
I trust you will figure out your options regarding the Oct Eid and make a sensible choice.
I am so impressed that you visited Casablanca. Sounds like a beautiful and historic city and something you will remember forever!
I look forward to seeing you as always!
Love,
Dad
falafel and sheep Love those Lebanese restaurants and all that food. Didn't realize you liked falafel. Yummy yum. Pretty awful the way men are in Morocco. Very sad to hear about that.
Funny about the camel ride. You are so right about how gravity ceases to exist when you get on or off a camel. They really aren't very nice animals and they sure don't smell good!!! They spit too. Yuck.
Finally, glad you won't be there for the festival of the sheep!! Can't believe you experienced that the first time. Good for you for being so brave. I couldn't have done that.
Can't wait for your next post.

wow Kailee, you sound like such a worldly young woman these days. Its hard to believe you are so capable of adjusting (mostly) to such an obviously dramatic difference in culture from what you grew up with. I am proud of you for that.
I would like to generally apoligize for the behavior of the my fellow mankind, it seems obvious and clear that they grew up differently from us as well. I wish I was there to stand with you in such populated areas and give them my custom intimidating look!
I absolutely LOVED the camel photos and you generally do look completely smitten with them! haha.
I truly hope that other than the negative aspects of society you describe that you are having a fine experience over there. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Love, Dad

Wow, that sounds like quite a cultural experience. Poor sheep :( I saw the pictures from the party on your facebook page. Thanks for posting them. I can't believe you are actually living there!!! It looks so different from home. I'm glad you all made it safely across the 6-lane highway - that's just crazy - but I saw a picture you posted of a bunch of people waiting to cross! Stay safe. Love, Mom <3

What an adventure! Hi Kailee,
Thanks for keeping us all up-to-date. I just love reading your entries. They way you describe it, I can actually imagine I'm there - watching you - being surrounded by scary chinese people fighting over who gets to take a picture with you next, debating whether or not to buy one of the cute little puppies, standing your ground at the store where they sold you the fake iPhone, standing majestically looking at the wonder before you on the Great Wall, and missing all your new/old friends who have left. I also can imagine you will feel the same way in another five weeks when the new set of students, along with the others that have stayed and you all go your own ways. I guess that's all part of the experience. I'm sure session two will be every bit as exciting as session one :))) Be safe, take full advantage. Love and miss you tons!!! xoxoxox
entertaining to say the least Kailee, your adventures are absolutely entertaining and the way you describe them in writing makes them ten times funnier!
I love that you are back where you are used to..the big city sounds like a scary place what with the pictures and the returned goods escapade.
I hope you are still having the time of your life. I love and miss you!
Dad
Attack of the monkees? Wow, that sure must have made the experience even more challenging then it allready sounded! Like a game....obstacles to reach the top of the mountain...as you battle, slippery stairs, pouring rain and hoards of hostile monkeys to make your way up..haha
Just love these stories. Keep them coming. I never knew how boring our existance really was!
Love you!
Monkeys Wow, that must have been really crazy, almost like a modified twist to the The Wizard of OZ flying monkeys :) Sounds like you are having an amazing experience. Thanks for keeping us up to date :)
fantastic I love reading these entrys....its like a different world for me to try to relate to...cannot imagine what its like for you!
Please keep them coming!
I love you!
food Wow, your description of the local cuisine has definitly exceeded my taste limits as well...didnt think it possible! But I draw the line at the head and tail...eyes.. still being on board my meal..haha..and turtles...I like them too much to eat them. Me and Brandon found a real cute one in Wellfleet last weekend. Sounds like your acceptable foods are expanding tho and that is a good thing! Every day is an adventure huh? Glad you are having such a fulfilling experience. I love you and always stay safe! Dad.
Ewwww I can't believe people would buy those turtles. What kind of dish do you make with a turtle? Turtle soup maybe? I thought that was a pretend thing! Please make sure you are really careful on the roads there, it sounds VERY dangerous!!! Oh, and what does Xia yu mean? Love you <3 Mom
Valarie sent me a link to your blog. You are so lucky, Kailee, to be experiencing this life enhancing, life changing event as a young adult. You will learn so much about yourself and The World beyond USA, other cultures and other value systems. You will be "changed", even in 6 short weeks! This experience opens your self confidence to a lifetime of adventures! Go for it! Keep your mind and your heart open. Love, Lillian (Val's cousin.)

My latest travels are taking me through four countries in three months. I'll spend a month studying yoga in India, then the following month backpacking through major India cities from North to South. I'll then fly to New Zealand for a Taiwanese wedding, and spend 12 days enjoying a few cool spots on both the north and south islands. After this I will spend Songkran in mid-Thailand before traveling south to the Thai islands surrounding Phuket and Krabi. Lastly, I'll head to the Indonesian island of Bali for a week before journeying home. ... full info
