Day Five - Phi Phi After a few Mojito cocktails at the beach bar last night we both had a great nights sleep in our little wooden beach hut and woke to glorious sunshine!! We quickly got ready and went for a breakfast then spent the morning soaking up the rays on the perfect dream beach! At 1:00 we booked a small longboat from our resort to take us to see some of the tourist spots - we went snorkling in a gorgeous blue lagoon and saw some amazing tropical fish. We climbed back on-board and the longboat took us to the next destination - he pulled up and pointed to some steep steps nestled in the cliffs with some ropes around and said Maya Beach - we weren't convinced and thought he must be wrong ... read more

Day Four - Phuket to Koh Phi Phi Don Woke up in phuket after an average nights sleep on a pretty solid bed and pillow. We had arranged with the American guy who owns the hotel a pick up at 12:30 to take us to the ferry to get on the boat that will take us to the Phi Phi island. We squeezed into a small mini bus and travelled about 40mins through the streets of Phuket to the ferry port where we boarded a medium boat to Phi Phi - sitting on the top deck the sun decided to come out after all the rain we have had it was lovley! After about 2 hours on the ferry we pulled into the small dock of phi phi and greeted by swarms of locals trying to ... read more

Bangkok continued..... When we got to our lovely hotel we were both so tired from all the travelling. As soon as we got into our room and shut the door our heads hit the pillows and we fell asleep for about 3 hours. We woke up and decided that we should venture into the big city for some food and some drinks. The hotel organised a taxi for us and when it turned up we asked to be taken to Koh San Road which is a tourist part of Bangkok (where mostly British people stay). He dropped us off outside a restaurant and pointed up the road which we assumed meant that it was round the corner.....um....nope he had just dropped us in the middle of Bangkok outside a restaurant that he prob gets commission. We ... read more

Day one & Two Shrewsbury - to Bangkok via Istanbul! Very early start this morning set my alarm for 5:30am to start getting ready for the journey. Neil (my brother) picked us up at 6:30 and drove us to Birmingham Airport - once we checked in and i finally got rid of my MASSIVE bag it was all so much easier - through to departures where we sat in the weather-spoons and had breakfast and drinks. Soon enough our flight was ready to board. Flight was pretty smooth small 30mins delay which was fine but annoyed many of the other passengers - i suppose we were in no rush to get to Istanbul with 10 hours to waste! Once we arrived in Turkey we followed everyone else through to the passport control - we qued for ... read more
