WOW! Hey Melissa,
Your holiday sounds wonderful, and I am so happy you were able to take in so much. The pictures from the mountain look spectacular! Can't wait to hear more about it : )
Have a great vacation Hi Mel, hope you're well. I love reading your blogs. Take lots of pics when you're in Tokyo, OK? Must get myself one of those ice pillows -- we really needed something like that here last week, I'm sure you heard -- VERY hot and humid. Hope your weather has been a little better than that. Talk to you soon. -- Cathy
Sounds like fun Hey Mel,
Your BBQ sounded like it was fun..way different from here. One question though, what is with everybody giving the peace sign in the pictures? When we were in Hawaii I noticed a lot of Japanese tourists were doing it in their pictures. Must be a new trend : ) I hope you are able to enjoy your 2 week break. I am looking forward to seeing you at home in the fall...I am going to try and trek up to Ottawa : )
getting ready to see Tokyo Keep cool! Today we received a copy of your Masters Thesis in the mail...all 178 pages of it and we were so excited to see it! Love...Mom and Dad
Wow, that is some gorgeous pottery!!! Sounds like quite a day. I had no idea Japan could be so breathtaking...I wish I could have seen it in person! Miss ya!
rice fields and pottery Melissa ...you are quite an adventurer! Mao was so helpful. Congratulations ...your Masters Degree came in the mail today!
Be safe.
Love,
Mom and Dad
Wow fen!
Looks like quite a spread you put on there! I love all the Canadian Flags! Sadly, you are a MUCH better X-Pat than me! Thanks for spreading the Canadian love!
Miss ya!
I'm not sure if "take me out to the ballgame" has quite the same ring to it when you say "buy me some rice balls and squid-on-a-stick"... maybe you could add "I don't care if I ever get SICK"???
"Kaboobs"? Your BBQ sounded like a hoot. I hope you told your new friends that kabobs actually originated in Greece -- so you were bringing a European custom to the Far East!!
P.S. Are "kaboobs", as you had written in your blog, similar to kabobs?
:) Fennell you just have such a way with words! What an adventure! I always enjoy reading about your adventures. Man, those Japanese kids are SO CUTE!!!
Miss ya Fen!
I'm glad to hear Japan has been introduced to the kabob! Way to go! It sounds as if you continue to be reminded why you are there but I miss you tons here. Luv ya, Amanda
Sorry I missed your Birthday! Oh Melissa, I'm so sorry I forgot it was your birthday back in May -- yours is exactly a week before mine -- but then again, you probably forgot my birthday too! I have been reading your blogs and am so envious of your adventures. Write soon!
-- Cathy Allison
Happy b-day! Happy birthday girl and ARASHIYAMA!! Awesome. You're in my old stomping grounds. if you stay on that train it takes you to my small city of FUKUCHIYAMA. You really need to go to AMANOHASHDATE sometime too. Get really INAKA!
Good Times!
Onsens are the BEST! I'm so happy that you experienced an Onsen Melissa! Now wouldn't it be the best if you could onsen across Japan. Literally going from Spa to Spa, all for $6 a soak! Keep the Gai-jin experience going girl!
Opening Japan Happy Belated Bday Melissa! I've missed reading your blog for a little while. So many adventures! Thanks for opening up the wonders of Japan to us. P.S. That spa sounds nothing like the one at the 'Pillar'...
bamboo Hi Melissa! The bamboo trees...grasses... are much bigger than the bamboo materials we see in CANADA. I enjoyed seeing your name in lights--- you always have lit up the world!
Take care. Love: Mom and Dad
Part 2 Actually, I don't like fruitcake at all...before OR after the best-before date. I was just trying to make you feel better. But generally, I think you are the sweetest and most colourful fruitcake I know!
