Good Luck! I'm glad you're going back to Romania, John... sometimes I think I should go back to visit, too. But I guess that won't happen for a while. What is happening there in May? I admit I've been completely out of the loop since I got back from the Peace Corps last summer. By the way, I was amazed that I COULD NOT get reading glasses in Romania without a doctor's prescription! (But I finally did find some in one of those German import shops.)
I see you will be in Munich (where my youngest son lives) and in Constanta (where I lived for a year after you visited me in Targu Jiu). I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip! I'm glad you have a blog so those of us who can armchair travel with you.

Thanks John! It looks like you care about Romania a lot more than some Romanians do. Can't wait to see where this episode will take you. Btw,what is goin' on in May?
welcome! So next week you'll be here?...i wish you to find Romania at least as interesting as last 6th or 7th:P time you were here..if not even more interesting..i'm under the impression that we are such an absurd, and unconventional country..so prepare yourself for weird and illogical situations..and beautiful landscapes of course..as Romania is Land of choice..right?
Thank you, John! This blog idea is a great one, thank you for giving us the opportunity to witness your Romanian adventures! Look forward to read your first episode (will that be in Peter's Timisoara?)
Good luck in your "stagecoach" trip!
I am returning to Romania for the 6th or 7th time. I have a personal affinity for Romania.
Since 2004 I have sent almost 90,000 English language books to schools and libraries in all corners of the country, most of them staffed by Peace Corps workers. Those interested in this program should contact me. Provisions are being made to accept sponsors for teachers or one-time cash donations in the US or Romania. 400 RON / $150 will send about 5 boxes of English language books to an American Peace Corps teacher there. A new batch of teachers is being trained now and will be deployed in September.... full info
