We had a really nice bus driver who kept wanting everyone to ask him questions and he made hand gestures when he talked. We got dropped off and had to walk ages with our rucksacks to the hostel. The hostel was lovely when we got there... had a porch with rocking chairs and rugs on it and everything was made from wood and a little bit chintsy. Our rooms were quite hot because there was no a/c but there was a fan. We were really tired so wanted to get breakfast then nap so the lady who owns the hostel suggested we go to the local diner and she said it was typical olde american and hadnt changed in about 50 years (called the 'why') so when we got there it was set out in the ... read more

Day 4 (Sunday 5th June) Got first Greyhound bus from Washington DC to New York with a few stops off on the way. Our hostel we had booked was on 105th street downtown on lexington avenue right near central park but was a bit rough... not the best hostel we had stayed in but was somewhere to stay- only one pari of ladders for both bunk beds so i did a superwoman and clambered all over the place haha. Once we had settled we went straight out to walk around Central Park and because it was sunday we saw all the joggers out, just loads of people all running around the road that goes through the centre of the park and we even saw one man skiing haha. Arrived on 1st June after long day of travelling... flew from Manchester to Paris then from Paris to Washington DC. Got to downtown hostel which was fully air conditioned in room with clean facilities. Me and Sarah Purdy bought a pizza slice from next door take out for 3$ and it was huge!! The size of an 8inch pizza!! Day 2 Arrived at Union station after asking a street policeman how to cross roads safely haha, went down into huge food court where we all got bagels or big breakfast wraps. When leaving the station we got a free sticker and cookie to mark their anniversary :P.
