My room is lovely, and being on my own is soooooo nice!!! Got a good sleep, then up early for the morning walk. Unlike the last tour, the walk was quickly shortened to a stop at a nearby bakery for deicious croissants and cafe latte. I'd never had a Pistachio Croissant. . . .. I've been converted . . . so tasty. Back to the hotel for breakfast (kind of like the Hobbits . .. breakfast then second breakfast . . . this could be a trend . . . better do a lot of walking to get rid of those calories. The 'tourist' activity for the day was a planned tour of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, which I'd done some years ago. Our first day really started on the 12th as we massed at Pearson Airport for the almost 9 hour flight to Rome. While some of the group travelled ahead, the majority of us were travelling via Air Transat 'Group Flight'. Boarding was scheduled for 9, but sadly we were delayed an hour leading to the already tight timeline becoming questionable. We did pick up 1/2 hour flying time, but still needed to change the plans to heading straight to the Vatican for our Mass Participation that afternoon. Remember I mentioned some folks had gone ahead? Well, this change of plans meant we needed to somehow round them all up an pass the message on for them to make their own way to the Vatican and meet up with us.
