Hola everybody, today is our very first day in Bolivia having arrived across the border this morning, so with that in mind I think we should update you on the last two weeks! Yes, we spent a lot more time in Cusco than we originally planned, but it was definitely worth it. We got to Cusco for the first of August, after a marathon twenty hour bus journey from Lima. We´ve been so lucky with the buses out here, for this journey we had seats that reclined until they were practically beds, non stop movies playing and dinner and breakfast too. For a tenner each, we thought it was worth splashing out! Unfortunately no matter how good a bus you get, mountain roads that are continuous switch-backs at high altitude are not too kind on the ... read more

Hey everybody, Incase you hadn´t already noticed, the entire blog site crashed at some point last week and we lost everything. It´s all impossible to recover as well unfortunately, although if for any reason any of you guys saved some of the pages, I believe you can repost them for us. As for the lost entries, we won´t be rewriting them or re-uploading the photos that were previously on here as it would be hugely time consuming and fairly pointless as you´ve all already read them! I think we might give it another go and start putting things back on the site, as it was a really nice way to keep in touch with everyone and share our photos etc. In this case, if any of you wouldn´t mind saving our future entries/photos we might be ... read more

When we arrived in Peru after flying from Panama City, we landed in Lima. Here we spent about three or four days (our minds have become a bit hazy now!). To be honest, Lima wasn´t our favourite place! Luckily we were staying in a district called Miraflores, which is just outside of the city centre. We say lucky as we felt pretty unsafe when we were in the centre! Lima is a huge, busy and noisy city, and although the centre does have some impressive architecture, on the whole it is pretty ugly and there is so much pollution that there is a constant smog cloud over the entire city. A city without sunshine, no less. Besides losing our tans, the change in temperature from Panama to Peru was a bit of a shock to the ... read more

Hello everybody, you´ll have to excuse us if we are now writing things that were previously posted, as far as we can recall the last blog entry was about Panama City, and the last photos posted were of the city skyline. So let´s quickly fill you in from there! I think we already told you about going to Casco Viejo, the old colonial area of the city, and you saw some pics. The last couple of days before our flight to Peru were spent shopping, going to the cinema, and out with friends at night. On our last day we also went out to Isla Taboga, just off the pacific coast with a couple from California we had met. I seem to remember that the photos from this were yet to be posted, so I´ll include ... read more

After leaving Bocas Del Toro, James and I began the journey to Panama City. We caught the water taxi back over to Changuinola and from there took a bus to David, which is in the south-east of Panama. That bus took about four hours but luckily all the transport has been fantastic so far, with air con etc. This journey was fairly uneventful, although the views were amazing. However we did also experience just how dangerous the windy roads can be, passing a huge lorry that had driven straight off the side of the road, and around the very next corner a banana truck that had overturned (quite surreal, bananas everywhere). By the time we reached David it was time to find a room for the night. David is not unlike San Jose with its´bustling, noisy ... read more

Hi everyone, firstly thanks very much to everyone who has been sending us messages and posting comments, it has been great to hear from you all! Nice to know what's going on at home too! Quite a lot has happened since the last time we wrote, which was on our first day in Cahuita on the caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Luckily the day after we wrote the weather did clear up, and we had our first scorching hot day of caribbean sun, yay! We decided to have a bit of a relaxing day on the beach, but unfortunately ended up as the typical brits do.... totally sunburnt! Even being covered head to toe in factor 30 didn't seem to help, and after just two hours we had transformed into nice pink lobsters. Think there ... read more

Hello again! Well we´re one week into our travels now and it´s so far, so good! When we last wrote we were planning our trip out to the volcano at Arenal. We booked onto a tour that drove us up to Arenal to see the volcano and to visit the hot springs as well as throwing in some food along the way. Luckily we got a really nice air conditioned bus, but it didn´t really help during the five hour journey on unpaved twisty mountain roads! (wasn´t feeling good) When we finally got up there the scenery was amazing, Costa Rica is really lush and green especially the higher you get. The hot springs we visited were almost like a water park, with lots of pools to swim in set in landscaped gardens that were overlooked ... read more

Hey everyone! We're finally here, after a nice 15 hour journey... jet lag isn't too bad as we gained 7 hours extra sleep! It's a bit of a home away from home here, not too much of a culture shock as we've seen about 10 macdonalds already... plus it's raining! Oh, and the first two people we met in our hostel went to Long Road Sixth Form and live in Shelford! What a small world. San Jose is a bit of a cross between an American and developing city, loads of cars, quite busy and dirty. Not many photos to take here so you will have to wait a bit longer for those I'm afraid! This afternoon James and I are off to book a tour up to Arenal for tomorrow, this is where the ... read more
