The first day is almost over! I have successfully stayed up with only a short hour...maybe two hour nap. Our flats are a lot more spacious then I thought they would be, though I came in last, so got stuck in one of the smaller rooms with one other girl, but it's not too big of a deal. We won't be spending much time in there anyway! We had a short orientation to the flats and a small tour of the surrounding area. You could tell that some people were thinking, "oh crap...more Americans in the neighborhood!" Hopefully we will be able to adapt and blend soon! So, we've found the local pub (though haven't gone in yet), the Tesco Express, and the Tube. The main struggle today was staying awake, and it was definitely a ... read more

Well, I have arrived in her Majesty's glorious country. Now if only our pilot didn't get us here almost an hour to an hour and a half early! I could have used the sleep... I've almost been up for 24 hours, and only slept maybe 2-4 on the plane...it's going to be a LONG day. But, I'm here! I'm finally in the one country that for some reason I have wanted to visited and live in for years! I'm super excited, but also super nervous. I'm excited to see what the city, the country, and the continent have to offer. But I'm nervous about my internship and that nothing will live up to my expectations. I've been building this trip up in my mind for years and now it's finally here and I would probably cry ... read more

Well, I'm just sitting at JFK using my 20 minutes of free wi-fi...I got to RDU at 8 and had no problem getting through security, though the security guard asked if I was pregnant before they had me go through the body scanner...that just boosted my confidence. The flight was interesting from RDU. We had a flight attendant that really liked to talk. I also found out that I forgot one of my textbooks at home! Yay me! Hopefully someone will let me borrow theirs...it will be a long time before it would reach me if my parents mailed it. I had to take a shuttle from LGA to JFK. That was interesting. The New York traffic was so exciting, and the shuttle driver went on an angry rant about this guy that started to honk ... read more

It's almost here. There is only 12 days left before I finally leave for London, England and four months of European air. I have almost everything ready. I have my visa, my plane ticket, my passport, my luggage, a good idea of the clothes I will be taking, and people's addresses. I really cannot believe that it is less then two weeks until I ship out for the other side of the pond (yes, I'm trying to learn/use some British lingo!). There are only a small amount of things left to do. I still haven't really decided on what I am going to do with a phone...probably buy a prepaid one and add minutes when I need them. The other item on my to-do list is my computer. For those that don't know, and maybe care, ... read more
