oh beautiful valpo what a nice blog entry. i was worried the nice chilenos were gonna take you on a nasty ride (not everyone is so nice) but it ended up being a great day. i love your pics of the murals. i think that's the best part of valpo. and yes, chileans love showing foreigners their country and will go way out of your way to help foreigners, especially if you are a woman (a bit of the machista thing). of course chilenos are nice provided you are not a "dark" immigrants--chileans aren't so nice to arriving peruvians, bolivians, and ecuadorian immigrants. many chileans are a xenophobic bunch under the surface, and you may see some of this while you're there. enjoy your trip south. btw, the town of con con just north of viña has some great seafood & cheese empanada joints right on the water. ask your claudias. cheers!
What a time Hi Jenny,
Boy, it sounds like you are having a fantastic time and storing tons of great memories. Keep taking a zillion pictures. They will trip great memories and stories for years and years to come. Blessings to you and your friends.
Jenny, this sounds amazing I have been internet stalking you, as per usual, and I hopped upon this. I will be following it with the same intensity...mua ha ha.
Wow, everything sounds so great down there, it sounds like you really lucked out with your host family and your location. A house of all women is always great (I would know, haha). Don't worry about school, I'm sure you'll be fine; as you said, they told you that you have better speaking skills than a lot of other students there, you'll rock the Uni's world.
Try to keep updating if you can, I want to hear of your adventures NOT in the U.S. (stupid Minnesota). I know it'll be harder to keep posting regularly once school starts but know that I am living vicariously through you....

So excited for you! Jenny!
Words can hardly describe how proud of you and extremely excited for you I am. I absolutely love that you are experiencing this adventure at this time in your life. Enjoy every minute but please be very cautious and smart in your decisions there. Be smart!
Please blog often (this site is now top on my bookmarks to check regularly) and don't change your writing style a bit... it truly sounds like you are talking to us face to face. It reminds me of David Sedaris on of my favorite writers.
I love you and can't wait to see pictures and hear more stories.
Love you,
Meg
