Very abundant information of the Brewery Tour Hi Doug, after reading your blog I really wanted to try the food their, and the interior design inside the brewery looks very special and it makes me want to visit that brewery and get a tour from you. Since you're so knowledgeable and understanding about the brewery company. I really want to try the root beer which they brewed by themselves. From my previous experience working in Montana cookhouse, I really enjoyed sitting at the bar dining. Is it possible to buy the types of beer the brewed here in BC Vancouver. I would like to try and see how are they different from others and what is tt that make it so special? I will totally recommend you to visit the Domaine de Chaberton Winery Estate because they won numerous award starting from 2003-2008 and they have a bistro which sells French Cuisine starting from price $15-30. Thanks, the information you provide are very abundant.
Kingston Brewery Company Tour Doug ,
I love the Rideau Canal and the Kingston Region, fabulous and wonderful history with a unique combination or rural and urban living. One of the interesting things I have always found about Kingston is the uniquely hidden history that often goes unnoticed. It seems like a perfect product and location given that is in the heart of the tourist district and close to a University. It's very interesting that they have taken a historical building and reflected it in the decor by emphasizing historic British pub paraphernalia. Do there brewing practices also emphasize historic practices? I really like the idea of marketing local tourist events on the placemats.
You mention some sustainable practices such as supporting local bison farms, are you aware if they purchase produce locally? This is where our farm is and much of the product is not sold locally. Usually when I am in this area I eat in either Picton or Gananoque but I will be sure to check out the pub when I am in the area! Thanks for the suggestion and feedback.
A few questions for you:
Do you think that 'pub dining' will continue to be successful, especially as a culinary tourism product?
Do you think that microbreweries could share the same success as vineyards do in regards to offering a culinary tourism product?
Prince Edward County is developing itself as a recently new part of the Wines of Ontario taste trails. do you think that there is potential for microbrewery trails as well?
Do you know how many different beers they brew onsite? Are they sold anywhere else, or are they just on tap?
Thanks!
Jana
Great detailed post! You are lucky .looks like you had a knowledgeable and interesting tour guide (the brewmaster)! How would you rate the overall quality of food? How much? Expensive? Honestly I have never been to Ontario Is it one of the attractions for tourists as well? Next week if you come to Victoria, I recommend you to go to Marina Restaurant ..they have really good seafood!! And I bet your family will like the waterfront view and atmosphere! Don’t worry it is not a “quiet” restaurant so your baby will like it too J
