Ok, so here we are, in Taupo, the Adventure Capital of the North Island. Taupo is a bustling metropolis compared to most new Zealand towns, with 20,000 people living here! We got into town in the afternoon hours, after a nice little hike in the morning through the rainforest around Waitomo, and i just got back from the grocery store to stock up on supplies for tomorrows big Hike, the Tongariro Crossing. More on that in a bit. Taupo sits right on Lake Taupo, which is the largest lake in New Zealand, a mecca for the trout fly-fishing kind, skydiving, hiking, biking, jet boating, you name it activities.
