hi uwe, Petra has sent your grretings and since she told me you are travelling in asia, I follow your journey :) It is great because I have done almost the same trip and so some memories come up. Well, I have been to the killing fields and the museum as well. It was terrible to see the fear and even hope in the victims face. I felt really touched and thought about it alot.
Angkor Wat was the total opposite - it is a wonderful and facinating place. Although many tourists were around I could relax in one of the temple. thanks for taking me back to Asia. Have a safe journey. Katrin
Hi Uwe, the pictures and the story reminds me very much of my visit last year in Auschwitz. I was moved deeply as well. Thanks for sharing your experience.
P.
g'day Uwe from the responsible one. Things change all the time and I am moving to Sunnybank Saturday week. Then the next Saturday Barbara and I are flying to Melbourne and driving across the Nullabor to Perth over a couple of weeks befor e flying back to Brizzy. A little bit further than the short drive around Kakadu, 4.250 odd klms if we stay on the track but the refreshments will keep one interested. We will be seeing a few friends along the track.
Friday night at the Boundary is still pumping and you run into friends from time to time around the ridges. Your trip just sounds sensational and the green eyed monstor storks my little cubicle as I read your tales and view your photos, I have not been able to access the videos and have been having some issues sending a comment. Anyway, enjoy and be safe.
It is so sad being in these places but I feel we need to do it, I felt the same when I was there, especially the realization that all this happened in my lifetime and I remained ignorant of it for so long. Hope you enjoyed Ankor Wat, after seeing it every other temple will be diminished in your eyes. Only 13 more days - Koh Tao here we come.
Petra.
Also dieser Mekong ist ja unvorstellbar riesig. Wahnsinn!
Petra
Hi Uwe and get nicked Aidan Hi Uwe, I finally found your blog! Thanks for your email .This is quite an impressive document I must say.I hope you recover from your broken ribs soon. Things are pretty quiet in West End so certain people think plying me with alcohol is the only viable source of entertainment????-lacking imagination for sure....but cheap drinks;))
We still luv ya uwe Hi mate, great to see your enjoying yourself. I've been checking out your blog for a while now and thought I'd best say gday. Not much news from west end. Everyone is hiding for the winter I think... very quite. I'll let you know when something happens... besides girl sam getting very, very drunk and showing everyone some of her hidden talents. Very tidy. Reminds me of somebody....
Dave & Barbara Of course we love you Uwe! Sounds like a lot of fun and it all looks beautiful. FYI, Mt Warning was also climbed in thongs. This weekend Craig and Sarah are having their house-warming party and we'll all have a drink for you. Take care and look forward to seeing you soon!
Hey Schnucki ;-), love your stuff, both English and German. Beautiful views! Laos is becoming really interestring. I think you're writing lots and so often. You seem much more disciplined than I have been on my Aussie trip.
Love, Petra
G'day mate, No crocs I see. Spectacular senery. Went with Barbara to Brunswich Heads (near Byron Bay) for a weekend. Camped, partied with members of the Redcliffe chapter of the Ullyssies Bikee group, a day trip to the real Nimbin (interesting to say the least) followed by a detour through Mullumbimby. But wait Barabra took me for a short walk up Mt Warning (1.25 hours return she informed me). The brown sign said 8.8 klms return and allow 4 to 5 hours to do depending on your level of fitness but my lady assured me we'd do it in a lot less -just climb a few steps and it's easy after that. Yep, 10 to 15 minutes of steps (counted on the way back some 360 of the mothers). Then it was natural rock steps going up, up and still up till you get to the scramble section and the clouds envelop you. So now you hold a steel chain and go nearly vertical. Within 20/30 metres of the top I freaked and returned to the responsible thinking and descended to the granny spot. Anyway, something to do when you return and the view is sensational.
Gregor had a birthday paryt on Saturday - great fun as always. Satchmos may have new owners by the time you return. Beer is still cold and the pub is still quiet. Anyway, happy trails and look forward to your return down the track.
Want a room? .... last chance... Hi Uwe, hab mich gerade köstlich amüsiert über deine Geschichte. Yeah, and I DO envie you as well hoping into the rock pool.
Hugs, stay sober! ;-)
Petra
Jealous Great to hear you are doing ok. We are jealous that you are still on holiday. We went to Vietnam last week with our school, and are counting down the days. Only 8 more weeks until we have another 10 weeks off.
Will keep dropping in for an update on your blog, very curious about Laos.
