long time to resond Hi Nikki
After our trip I have settled back into a mainstream job, however I still have a wanderlust.
Although on a permanent contract with my employer, I am now committed to a sponsored cycle ride for charity in India in November. Send me your contact details and I'll forward details.
Cheers steve
New hostel in Chihuahua Please note that there is now one brand new hostel in Chihuahua, named Casa Chihuahua (www.casadechihuahua.com) right in front of the train station. So far so good...

City of Calgary I spent a month's holiday in Calgary with my aunt and uncle back in 1974. A great place in canada. My aunt and uncle is still living there and was visited by my mum last year. Best regards
Mine tour I enjoyed the mine tour when I was in Zacatecas a few years ago, which gave real insight on the hardships of the natives, especially under the Spanish. We also had a dinner at the Minas Real, a real treat in an otherwise austere vacation.

Raids I've been around mexico city and in the Zocalo quite a few times and I noticed that too. Alot of the less permanent stands seem like at any minute the policia are coming and they seem to have a signal to let others know...odd
Great read I am very envious of your trip. I am eagerly awaiting my trip to America next summer. I am also heading to NYC and Boston(Cape Cod). Then I am heading out west to San Diego California and driving the entire Pacific Coast Highway all the way up to Seattle and onto Alaska. I will then fly down to Utah/Arizona and see the canyons. Your journal made me even more excited.
I simply adore reading of your travels. Keep on posting entries and I most likely will keep reading them. Oh, and Rory is quite possibly the most adorable child I have ever seen.
Amazing.. I would just like to say that i have read all of your journal entries from the day you left until your last one in New york City, and I could honestly say how interested and amazed I am of what you and your family have done and gone through. I would do anything to be able to go across a bunch of countries and live out of hostels, huts, and hotels. I honestly sat here for an hour and a half reading your entries and saying "wow, thats awesome" "i wish i was there". The closest I will be coming close to traveling out of my country( The united States-pennsylvania) will be in October. I am traveling abroad with my College to ireland for 4 weeks, and The UNited Kingdom for the next 3 weeks after that, for a total of 7 weeks out of my country. I am extremely excited, but i would give anything to do what you are doing. You and your family are very lucky. I will still be reading your entries.

P.S. In my opinion, the United States really is not much to see. Although, i hope you stop in Arizona at the GRand Canyon, absolutely breathtaking.
are you a dj? where are you playing?
it seems that you are hangin out in the city center thats very boring come on up north.
you got to visit museo nacional.
Hi everyone.
I'm Steve, a forty-something family man who's never left Europe before. Next week I set off for Rio with my wife Deb and sons Owen (15) and Rory (10) for twelve months globe-trotting.
Unfortunately a year is no time at all and we do not plan to visit Africa , Middle East, Russia or Europe ... just a few other places.
So if anyone knows how to use a mosquito net please feel free to contact us !
