I can't believe you're home Just read your blog. Can't believe you're home. I feel like I've been on a round the world trip with you. Amazing photographs!Speak soon. Love Kate xxx
p.s There has been very heavy rain for the last 2 weeks and lots of places are flooded!
Awesome trip! Thanks for taking along for the ride through blog. Looks like it was an awesome trip. Next time we're in the same town we'll need to catch up!
Pelicans Oh, I forgot to add that the picture of the pelican really made my day! The pelican is the official bird of ma belle Louisiane. If it was me there I totally would have given it a hug and a fish. They are neither loud nor do they leave poop EVERYWHERE like the Canada geese do. Sorry, many a class of mine has been interrupted by the honking of Canada geese flying overhead.
:( I am so sad that this is your very last dispatch. Every blog has left me with pains in my sides because they are that funny!!!
Ah, Karelia Lights...they produce the deadliest second hand smoke. No other cigarette in the world can possibly be that caustic and acrid. Like Night Train is to booze (maybe you don't have Night Train in Canada?), the Karelia brand is to smokes.
Hey travel girl! Mykonos is awesome, make sure to take good advantage of the time you'll spend there. And I bet you've already started doing so since you decided not to sit in front of the computer, haha! Didn't you go to Saloniki by the way?
$9 a pack Not sure what they're charging for smokes there - but remember, you can't afford it here. I'll have a set of nicotine packages waiting for you at the office when you get back!
Glad you're having such a great holiday . . . don't do anything I wouldn't do which of course, leaves you wide open.
We miss you TONS!!
Have a safe trip home.
XO C.
Weather gods Give big ups to Aeiolos (sp.?) and Poseidon! I guess Apollo and Helios, too, for all the sun and beautiful light. They saved the best for last --- just for YOU. (Yeah, I know I sound like a nerd, but it's easy to remember what deity controls what when you have lived through a quarter century of Carnival festivities.) You are probably all bronze and ready to have your image immortalized on a fresco by now; you represent our mighty people well.
wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I so fricken' wish wish wish I was there with you. Instead of being stuck in this shit hole of a school. I'm still waiting for us to take a trip together. Love the picts - it makes me so jealous....
hey George,
The pic's are amazing and making me crave a holiday now more than ever. I am so, so glad you are having such a fabulous time... you were missed at the 80's party though. I did my hair extra "special" just for you girl, well that and it went really well with my outfit. Cant wait to see you when you are back.
Hi There! Georgia, I am really glad that you are having such a great time in Greece, but I find it hard to believe that your Thea can beat your Mama's hospitality! I loved the picture of your parents village, seeing as how they are practically my parents; it's nice to see where they hail from. Keep having a great time as before you know it you will be home. Miss you lots; keep well and stay safe. Love you tons!!!!
white girl Sunshine, you are definitely not pasty white in color. Let's get that straightened out first.
Supposedly Linkin Park named one of their albums after the monastery, but they say it "meaty-aura" and not "met-tay-o-rah," and that always stuck in my craw because it is not that much of a stretch to pronounce it correctly.
Speaking of language, though, don't suffer too much over your Greek!!! Though I could imitate the thick drawl of "rural Thessalian villager circa 1950" fairly well, I, too, struggled with the finer points of the language ... like reading! I also had the added disadvantage of being pointed out as "white girl" due to my incurable paleness. (The exact word was "germanida," but I am translating in a literary and not a literal sense here.)
Keep eating. Dollars to donuts says that you will come back in better shape than when you left Canada, and it's not like you can regularly find goat on a stick in the Western world.
yasso! Hey sis, looks like you are having a great time! Definately say hello to all the family from me, and hugs and double kisses for sure. And if you are looking to bring back any smokes for those of us back home, Rou's fave are Karleia lights...
Anyways stay safe, we miss you! Love Tree
The sun shone when you left Hi Georgia. The pictures are amazing. Looks like you're having a fantastic time. Yes, the sun did shine as I drove you to the airport and hasn't stopped since. I don't feel too bad telling you as it looks like you're getting more than your fair share! I think you should support Liverpool tonight when they play in the European Cup final against AC Milan in Athens. Diane is there cheering them on, probably sleeping rough in a park bench with no ticket! All your English friends say hello and send their love. Hello Canada. love from Kate xxx
cooking like your mom's? tell your aunt I am coming... Your mom is like on this high pedastal I have created of "the greatest cook ever!" and now you tell me there is another greek lady out there that does more? I am intrigued. It looks and sounds beautiful in Greece. Good luck with the soccer team. I will be so bitter if they are actually on the boat! Let us know how it turned out. Miss ya
Look at our lovely teeth! Dear readers/viewers
us Brits out here in cyber space would like to draw your attention to our lovely teeth, the fact that we have plenty of meat on our bones due to the copious amouts of high quality British cuisine we consume and the fact that we are not drinking tea. Oh, and by the way, the man taking the photo is not called Liam.
We hope you like our sheep, houses, cathederals, rivers and green, green grass. We have thoroughly enjoyed sharing our culture and alcohol wth the gorgeous Georgia (although she does attract the wierdest people) and hope you have enjoyed a little taste of life up here in the North. Love to all my Canadian friends...eh! Kate xxx
Jolly nice place you have there! Well look at you - have you given yourself a regal title yet? Something along the lines of Her Loveliness or Her Grace. Will you be expecting High Tea with cucumber sandwiches when you get back or will it be straight to the nearest Tim's? Glad to hear you're keeping up with those northern lasses - funny how you failed to mention the fried sausage butties (translation - sandwiches) washed down with beer whilst phoning Canada at 2 am!! How's that for posh? Have a safe trip over to Greece. Looking forward to the updates and photos from there. Love Suzi. (PS - Hey Bosch - see you at the Folk Fest - I'm in training!!)
Soooooo Jealous! Hey chicky,
Just when I thought your trip couldnt get any better. I am sitting at work day dreaming of being there with you. I am also looking forward to the pics from Greece. I will be in Ontario when you get home however I will give you a ring when I am back as I want to hear the x-rated version.
Are you practicing for the Folk Fest? Hey Georgia - sounds like you're having the time of your life! Just remember that your liver needs to be fully recovered by the time Folk Fest comes along. ... or not. I love the photos and your daily updates - keep them coming. Oh, and be careful, I've heard of this al-co-hol as well ... incredibly dangerous! Say hi to Kate for me.
You trying to get me beat up, bro?!!!! And people wonder where I get my sick sense of humour from!! I think I'll give the English their football . . . I really miss my hockey!! :( Love your sis, Georgia
red shirts eh? make sure to tell all the red shirts that Malcolm Glazer brought them the premiership title this season(only if you want to start a hooligan riot). nice to see you are having a good time. Go to a bar(sorry: pub) and yellout "HEY LIAM!" and see how many people turn around(my guess is at least 5). take care and remember that a red shirt would be cool for the guy who practically helped you get your ticket(just kidding!)LOVE , bro
