At the start of this trip we had a few days in Chicago. I had not been to Chicago since I was much younger so had very little memory of it. We wandered around much of downtown Chicago and saw the sights, including the statue of Marilyn Monroe, which has since been moved to California. We also spent some time at millennium park, visiting the 'Cloud Gate' Sculpture as well as the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, a large outdoor performing arts venue. After these few days we boarded our train, the Southwest Chief, to Flagstaff. This journey gave me a proper understanding of the huge scale of the US, as well as providing excellent views of the scenery.
