Ranching in Prineville, central Oregon

It took me three days to get to the Wine Down Ranch, but it was oh so worth it. Got me in love with Bike touring, even though I did not have any good gear; bike that is to small, no tent and no saddle bag, or however you call bags that goes on a bike. I just can't wait to get a new bike and get back on the road.
I arrived at the Ranch at 8 on the night of the third day; Mary was not waiting for me anymore. I lived in the trailer for the whole month since I was the only volunteer, and it gave me a lot reflecting and me-time. It was great, working with Roy on the ranch duties I could help with and helping with the AirBnB. I had the chance to help in a Shelter's kitchen and meet the owner of the local bike shop, I visited a raw milk cheese production, visited Bent and Prineville and help on Shannon's place. Every weekend would be filled with dog walking and short hiking trips, except for the Memorial Day weekend where I found it in me to bike to Smith Rock National Park; effort I am really glad I made. I left my bike there when I flew out of Redmond at the end of the month to get back to Québec.
I had a really good time, and am so happy to have seen Central Oregon. I will have to get back there to see the Painted Hills, or just to walk this amazing property. Roy and Mary were great hosts.
