shannon's worst time and place ever So Shannon's worst time and place ever was sitting beside you in China... wow... I would have thought it would be those 10 days of complete silence, fasting, chores and lack of luxurys... but hey...sitting beside you.... she's right....BRUTAL!!!!

wonderful!! Just read part of your blog and loved it!!! I was laughing outloud - by myself- 'cause I have been there and you explain it so well. I really hope Angie and Adam invite us over to hear some of your stories when you return. Looking forward to your China adventures.
*laughs* Hello, you two! I enjoyed reading through your blog and laughing at your adventures. I hope you are tanned, happy and well relaxed. David and I are super excited to see you when you get back.
Takin' me back! Greetings from Cowtown. Your blog is taking me back. We have been to most of the places you have (but wisely decided to skip Pratu) - though it took us 5 YEARS to do so. Sounds like a great trip.
An "elephant painting" from the orphanage is hanging in the room next to me now - above William's head as he sleeps - hopefully it won't fall. Sawadee Ka!
WOW WOW.....book the "Pre Packaged Tour" next time....seriously!!! Attitude, Shmatitude. I'm mad right now after reading this. Good times. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....whenever that is over there??
good attitude I enjoyed reading about your adventures getting to the Wat in Chiang Mai. I lived in Thailand for 3 years and had similar experiences. I was there long enough to learn passable Thai, which helped quite a bit. Have a very wonderful holiday and keep your good attitude.
Happy Festivus Hello Greg and Shannon!!
Your trip diaries and pictures are outstanding - clearly you are experiencing the trip of a lifetime. I just wanted to wish you both a merry Christmas....take care!!
Happy Holidays Glad you two are having a fabulous time - Merry Christmas and have a great New Year's Eve whereever you end up.
We'll save yousome snow - I/m sure it will still be around in Feb.
Cheers

Way to go Shan! I was hanging onto every word of your description of your temple experience and found myself wishing I could have been there with you. (even though I understand we would have had no "together" time). I'm so glad you took the time to have this experience. Enjoy the rest of your trip. I get onto your blog about once a week so far, and read it all at once when I do. Really enjoying it! I got your phone message the other day. Thanks for trying to reach me. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up if you try again. LOVE, Big Sis.
trains How much did the sleeper trains cost you? Im just wondering in comparason to taking the plane. I am going to Thailand again hopefull this spring and maybe the train might be an option for me. Thanks.
Wow...what a trip!! Hilarious to say the least!! Glad to hear that you have found the time in your hectic schedule to squeeze in a quick golf game or two.....I laughed through your entire message as I can totally picture you out on that course duck hooking a huge drive into the jungle. Just had an idea....Golf Trip 2010 in Thailand!!
Anyways, glad to hear you are both doing well and having a blast. I'm heading out to shovel my driveway for the 10th time this year.
Merry Christmas,
Maha
What an experience!!! I can't even imagine. I'm irritable and bored when I'm folding laundry, with the TV on and the kids running around me...
Congrats on sticking it out....and finding some enlightenment. You need all you can get, being married to Greg.
brilliant blog Wow! I am learning so much about Thailand through your blog! I know where to go if one wants to have a questionable relationship. And I know where one can go hide out from any fallout from said questionable relationship, where no one will ask any questions (Buddhist Monastery). I know that Santa Claus wears a banana hammock. (burned into my mind....I scream.....the pain.....). What next? I'm dying to hear how Shannon finds the retreat. One part of me says it would be a profound and peaceful experience. The other part of me says I would be so bored I'd probably shred my tatami meditation mat with my teeth just to have something to do.
I just figured out how to post a comment! So much for being a technical wizard. Sounds like you are having an awsome time! Homoeroticism eh? ha ha Id like to see you and the young guys from NCSA recreate that little scene when you get back! Just kidding. Well I hope you stay out of trouble! Take care!
Oh my Ten days on your own...that's funnier than 10 days of silence for Shannon. Remember, there are no NCSA courtworkers in Patong to save your but when you are arrested. You're pretty much SOL. I hear the prisons there are *minimalist*...i.e you will be crapping in the corner of a cell you share with 10 guys. Good luck...
