What's left? So, I guess my tricky shot on the mini-golf course in MB doesn't compete with the pressure and adventure of your trek? So glad I get to read all these details after the fact! Love you!!
Hell has melted here Amazing to think you're freezing and we're melting... where are you again? As I sit in my (fortunately) air conditioned office looking out my window at a 90+ degree day with very high humidity, it's hard to imagine needing crampons and an axe. Great story, Marc... thanks for cooling me off! (I like 'em too "...")
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom! You'll have to send this into Mazda - I'm sure they'd love to know how functional their cars are! I don't think I'll try cooking on the floor of mine, but it's good to know I could if I had to. Another amazing adventure, for sure. So Anna thought sleeping with you in her car was a good thing?? I'm not sure who's the bigger 'adventurer' :-) Take care and stay safe.
How fun! Hey Marc, Glad to see your trip is off to a great start. The jumps are nuts!!! -- but look crazy fun! I am jealous :) I look forward to reading about your next adventure. Safe travels...
AAAAAgggghhhhhh!! Nice one fella! Only managed the Ledge myself. I say its cos of time restrictions, but really I was too chicken for he Nevis! The videos are well cool. Havent worked out how to do that on our blog! Happy trails fella. Only 3 weeks left for us now. Having great time in Peru, despite Natalie breaking her nose hiking in the Andeas! Take it easy. Will upload those pics when I get chance. James
Ski Bum Hey man, if working some lame service job lets you stay in NZ for the ski season for longer on your budget, why not do it? Asia/Australia will always be there to travel to. If you find yourself waiting tables, tell me and I'll give you some pointers =) Aloha
Awesome Story Marc Great story Mark, you really capture what we all experienced on Vorovoro. Every place I've been (third world anyway) they all want you to come back, and its sad because you know you probably never will. I'm going back this month for five weeks. What do I tell them in July?
Pretty good for a dorky engineer! Wow, and I thought a 500ft zip line was a big deal! The videos are great and hearing your voice proves you are still alive somewhere on the planet. The money looks well spent, cause you won't be doin that in Lombard! Keep up the blog entries, I (we) love reading them.
Superlatives for NZ Hey Marc, I remember some of the great senery there. I only got to the North Island, so missed a lot. Your pictures and details are wonderful. What a kick! I bet it is hard to leave each place, depending on the effort expended and connections made. It may be something one gets used to. See you when we see you. Marty.
Nice stuff... I wish I had brought my new compact flash card, that is completely useless to me, to Fiji. For some reason I remember your camera takes those, course I could be wrong. Best of luck with the random acquaintances, I have no doubt you'll run into more aspiring Olympians.
Nice pics! Well, now I have the whole office crew here at Alpha waiting for the next update from you! I rpinted out the first one and they loved it! Apparently you're not the only one who wants to travel the world. So, besides Heather, Irene and Myself, there's about a dozen people here 'living' your adventures with you. The scenery is awesome and you're quite the photographer, I must say. We'll all be anticipating the next update - be safe.
Points Leader The one cave picture shows stalactites (they hold "tite" to the ceiling) and some columns. The Southern Cross is slightly left of center in the night sky picture. There, I've answered your questions. What's the prize?
WOW! the scencery certainly lives up to your description. I guess a sulu really wouldn't do much for your day in these environs! Thanks for the report!
Hey cuz Yeah, I'm also living vicariously through you - thanks for the updates! I'll be sure to think of you when I go back to work on Monday.... Glad your journey is starting out so well (after the airline business of course). Irene loves looking at your pictures, too!
Good photos mate... ... if you need any tips on how to work that thing, give me a call. BTW, Im now getting a bit paraniod about how much tea, Natalie and I drink! Take it easy!
I left Chicago heading west in the beginning of April '07 and continued going west until March 1st, 2008 when I returned to Chicago having confirmed that the world is indeed round.
The stops along the way - Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Nepal, India, and Tanzania.
As of March, 2008, I retired my backpack and posted my final entry about this journey. All the entries are still there for your reading enjoyment. Remember, the entries are shown newest to oldest.
Cheers!
