SO True!!! That is often how you feel and sound with a language before it gets its meat hooks in you.;) Just keep reminding yourself of that refugee conversation. I know I will!! See how things are so much more fun when they aren't flawless?? It makes for better laughs, too!
You look pretty & talk pretty Rachel, everyone back here is enthralled with your trip. We really enjoy seeing the photos of a place some of us may never see in person! We also enjoy your day-to-day encounters with handsome waiters, fellow students and vile tourists. We know your classroom experience is a challenge, but you will make the most of it, as you always do. You will talk pretty, just as you look so good in your sundress Keep those blogs with all those experiences coming at us!
Just wanted to let you know I have been reading your blog and everything looks AMAZING!!!!! Very jealous. :) :) Last time I was in Mama Santas it just wasnt the same without you being my server....
Bella indeed! You looked so great in the photo by the canal!! What a lovely dress! I'm glad to hear the temperature is now being more docile and waiters are flirty. Fantastico.;)
Gelato OK...Gelato 1 time per week and watch those calories from the carbs and alcohol. I have to admit the Brushetta looked fabulous...but portions...remember the portions!
Love ya!

Great Blog If you ever decide to abandon art, consider becoming a photo-journalist. What a great job you're doing on this blog - so descriptive!! I had a hunch it was only a matter of time before you had an encounter with the 2008 version of Marcello Mastroianni.
Hello, Mamma Rachel, it looks like you are having an amazing, yet mosquito-heavy experience. I hope all is well, and you find what you are looking for. I can't wait to hear how your research fits in to your dissertation and hear all about that. I am sorry I missed you last time in KC; hopefully, it won't happen again. :-)
I love you! Hanna
Hi Rachel! Hi Rachel! I would totally go for one of those tanks! Very cute! Hope you are having fun. It is hot and humid here in Cleveland too. At least you have nice things to look at in the heat. Best of luck.
Fabulous pictures Rachel, the photos are fabulous! Despite the ravenous zanzares, you appear to be coping well! This is a wonderful opportunity for you to practice Italian and see some of the great works. Keep those pics and comments coming. Love ya
Yay, orange!!! Thats so great that they push the mantle for imodest outfits! We need those at church during the summer, I feel.;) So far the trip sounds fabulous. I want to hear about any friends, adventures and food that you experience!! The pics are GREAT. Are they from your camera or cell?? I feel like I'm getting an immersion experience, too!;)
Hi! I'm Rachel, and I am an art history doctoral candidate doing research and intensive Italian language studies in Venice. I am currently writing my dissertation on images of St. Mary Magdalene in Renaissance and Baroque Venice and Rome. I've started this travel blog to keep connected to my friends and family back home in the States, since I will be away for a month. I'll be blogging about my travels, uploading pics, and showing everyone about my adventures. :) I'm not sure how regular I'll be able to blog, since Internet access might be limited, but stay tuned....... full info
