Hana Its a shame no one knows about Somaliland and its success. To be honest, I didn't until I was in the Congo, there someone told me, so I went to check it out for myself.
Ethiopia is the oldest independent country in Africa, and the three main colors of her flag were so often adopted by other African countries upon independence that they became known as the pan-African colors
Tesfay - that is correct! and I couldn't have written that better myself about one of the most interesting and stunning African countries. Thanks for reading.
Answer to your first question: yes, I actually did know that. Your pictures are amazing, really makes me want to go travel Sudan. Keep it up, mate.
Cheers,
Jens
MY KINDA PLACE Love the images...portraits...colours...my kinda place...but the hassles with permits, security etc...I thank you for bearing the load...and enlightening us...beautiful blog. Keep safe.
Another superb blog from you with a great tale and photographs! Have wanted to visit Sudan for years, but know that obtaining a visa can be difficult. Please elaborate about the brawl on the Nile ferry!
Thanks For Reading wow - I have the attention of the three main bloggers on here (Dancing Dave, Travel Camel & D MJ Binkley). What an honor, thanks guys. I plan to write a separate blog about the Nile Ferry Company when I get a chance, especially the brawl in First Class!
Another fantastic blog. I do imagine it was unsettling for you to pop up in some of these places-- don't imagine the archeologists have many visitors. Laughed at your travel permit process...fantastic! Loved every single photo. Your portrait work is wonderful. Enjoyed the highlights and lowlights. We won't be traveling again until August but hopefully you'll enjoy and follow along. Keep your wonderful blogs coming.
Might help to convince my white friends ...have had the same unusal felling when I see those spritual activities...being one of the Orthodox believer I still question my self ...How?
Wow, good to see you blogging again What an honor. Thank you for writing about your experience and sharing it will all of us. Travel experiences enhance and change our lives.
WITNESSING THE UNDERWORLD I hope the poor girl is accepted back into her family and community as cleansed. The supstitions that lead to ostracision and alienation of children and troubled souls... in the guise of being possessed...are as chilling as the ritual you observed.
Wonderful Blog Like Dave, this was one area in Ethiopia that I did not see during my three visits to the country, but it would certainly be on my list if I was to return. Thanks for posting such an engrossing story with equally impressive pictures.
SOMALILAND...GLIMMER OF HOPE Well done...you found safety in Somaliland...I was not aware it existed...not mentioned when I was in Ethiopia...at last there is a glimmer of hope for that part of the Horn of Africa...and thanks for the directions how to get there..! Be safe...and best wishes.
