To be fair, while one of us managed to figure out sleeping schedule during flight to minimize effects of jet-lag (Swiss-Germans, it's what they do), the other arrived majorly sleep-deprived having cramped in as much in-flight entertainment as possible (Indians, it's what we do). With only 2.5 days in the city and check-in at guesthouse scheduled for later in the day, we immediately set off for the Grand Palace. Truly impressive, but, admittedly, the blazing heat, throngs of people and lack of alertness left me less than truly appreciative of its grandeur. The remainder our stay was mostly filled with more Wats, in search of night markets, checking out street food - the latter of which involved watching dollops of questionably-sourced water thrown into everything we consumed as I slowly realized the inevitability of traveller's diarrhea
