Port Artur Taz sounds nice. Must try to go there when we go back to Oz.
Wonder if Port Artur was founded by the same Arthur who founded Port Artur in Texas, one of Captain Cookes crew. Did CC get to Texas? P A Texas is famous as the birthplace of Janis Joplin (the greatest country rock blues singer of all time!). Three weeks ago we were having dinner in the Carribean with two nice ladies from Dallas Texas, as one does. One of them told me she was the ex sister in law of Janis's cousin! That is my claim to faim ha ha.

Heron Island. I have seen the turtles on the TV and it is agonising to watch but just another example of 'Nature red in tooth and claw'. I have to take your word on the superiority of the Noddy Bird's song, but A Noddy Bird Sang in Berkeley Square doesn't have the appeal of A Nightingale. Mumxx
sea cucumbers yeah I think they are funny. When you pick them up they squirt out one end. They leave red blood coloured ink on your hands too. The texture is wierd, I picked up a few different sorts, my favourite bieng the liquorice cucumber.
Tazzi What no blog on Tazzi? I wanted to see a picture of a weedy sea dragon.
Heron Island sounds nice. You could be cast away there and live on turtle soup and sea cumbers, is that one that Arnaud is clutching (which I believe taste disgusting, especially the eggs, but the Japanese love them!).
Dad.
Cyclone Emm Nana always said you were like a gust of wind. Is it your fault? What an adventure you are having - totally unexpected, interestingly described and photographed and still no hat!! We wonder where you have parked your trusty van. Our Jazz Cruise was amazing and I paddled in the azure Caribbean waters of Half Moon Cay. Dad went in for a swim and I was reminded of all the ghastly acquatic activities he had to endure with y'all as children. Anyway, we look forward to the next chapter. Love mumXX
Did'nt know you could drive Em!!!.....
You are both looking very healthy...this life style must suit you.
Your tracvels are inspirational...thanks for keeping in touch

yay isn't fraser island great, I told you so. The same thing happened to us with our 4x4 sinking and all the aussies stood around laughing and taking photos but luckily we got a tow straight away as it was in the quicksand. I'm just packing to go on holiday so speak to you when we get back xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Keep it dry..... Great to have your news and to know that you are not floating down the river...good luck and I wish you sunny days. Here in Gujarat the sun is shining relentlessly and it is a dust bath every day. Keep on blogging.

Ratatouille Hi Emm I loved your ratatouille story. Lovely photos but a worrying scenario, especially for our friends in Toowoomba, the centre of which has been destroyed, but who have survived relatively unscathed. I can hardly believe you are in a disaster area. 'The best laid plans' etc., but hopefully you will have better luck up north, although I can't imagine what the roads and terrain are like. Anyway, bon voyage. Love mumX
Blog from a blogophobe Hi Emm Your life consists of 'Once more unto the b(r)each', and in Queensland 'The rain it raineth every day.' I'm having to resort to the Bard to compete with your magnificent prose; you could land a job at Lonely Planet. You appear to be heading north at a rate of knots and the crocodiles, taking advantage of the horrendous floods ( have you heard?) are heading in your direction. I hope Arnaud's filleting knife is as good as Crocodile Dundee's. We are looking forward to a mere week in the Caribbean. No speedos or bikinis for your dad and me but I will take my M&S one-piece in case I'm tempted. Meanwhile Thea has announced she is off to Barbados at the end of Jan so Charlie will be left holding the cat for a couple of days. The photos are good. Kathy (Hello Kathy and Paul) is right about your eye, but then I always said so. Is it the right or the left? Your photo of A dazed looking Arnaud is paparazzi standard. Your van looks cosy and I suppose the spider thinks so too. Look after ourselves. love MumXX
Keep those wheels turning! Are you making this up? Aussie news is all horendous floods, chaos and mayhem.....and you spin a most enviable yarn of idyllic bliss. Your food descriptions make my stomach churn.....well the state of Gujarat is dry and the Hindus are vegetarian (I am living with said H's) where we have a mess of goo and rice to be eaten with chapatis and fingers. Tomorrow I will spend a day with a local kitemaker (no English) but next week have been invited, under police guard, to the Raan of Kutch...the salt mashlands on the border with Pakistan. If you don't hear from me again......please offer up a chocolate twist at the wake!
Have you eaten kangaroo road kill?

Hairy Harriet Maybe Hairy Harry is really Harriet and has left lots of little spiderettes for you. Arnaud could put a lead on her and have her as a pet and take her for walks ha ha!
Hope you aren't affected by all those floods in Queensland.

Wow!! What an amazing Christmas....and your lunch was to die for.
Find a man who can really cook....what a good idea!!!
I enjoy your photos so much ...you have a good eye ...this must be the journey of a life time for you.
Are you thinking of stopping to find a temporay home anywhere yet?....or still travelling for a while?
My Cyristmas was very weird....as I had always gone to Devon to make sure mum had a christmas lunch on previous years ...so this year there was a huge void to fill.
Next year ...I will fill my home with people i think ...thats what I would like on Christmas day.
Onwards and upwards

Sydney plus Very interesting and vivid commentary Emm. We are very envious, although I don't fancy the bugs. I can now type without frozen fingers but I believe the cold weather will return. Roll on the cruise. Are the Aussies crying over the Ashes?
Bugs Fresh bay bugs, yum. The one I ate in Sydney was about a week old , yuk. I bet they're nice fresh. Did you know they are a very distant relative of crustacea (lobsters, crabs, shrimps). They are more closely related to wood lice ha ha.

ooohhhh ello emmeline and arnaud. you look like your having a lovely time from your photos. sounds like you need to work on the fishing, its easy just go swimming and grab one. Cold stubbies on the beach too. Have you tried coopers pale ale yet and tooheys where you get trivia questions under the bottle cap. ahhh i miss it. xxx
Keep on trucking Nice......lovely to see a couple of Flat Whites enjoying themselves and pushing the limits of automotive technology. The photos are great....especially the beaches and the looooong straight roads. So keep on publishing. I am still chilling out at Sourdough (ok, numbing out may be a better phrase as it is so cold). You got out of frozen Britain just in time. Keep posting, but only when absolutely necessary. And the 2 gear van.....did it die; did you push it off a mountain pass? And what about the Roadkill Grill with all those kangaroos around? Hope you had a Cool Yule and a Happy Christmas. OD
