Hey, Well if you're reading our entries in some sort of order I should probably clear things up. It's now only 9 days until 2011 and a lot has changed since out last entry a good 2 years ago. Both me and emma are now graduated from university, we are now married too and if you can tell from the location tracker we upped sticks (even if they were very shabby sticks) and decided to take it easy in the land of the 25 hour working day, South Korea. We never moved here in all honesty with any intention of staying here for more than 1 or 2 years, we have itchy feet. Indeed you might say the traveller inside us has got a bad case of athletes foot. Both of us are so curious to ... read more

Hello again! Well today has been an interesting but emotionally exhausting day. We left for Auchwitz this morning and I'm not really sure how to do the experience justice on here, the trip took us around Auchwitz I in the town of Oświęcim and the larger Auchwitz II - Birkenau. Auchwitz I was the first of a complex of concentration camps which consisted of 3 large camps and over 40 smaller sites. The camp was originally intended to house Polish political dissidents and Intelligentsia believed to pose a threat to the Nazi's as well as Soviet POWs. However by 1942 under the instruction of Himmler it had become an extermination camp which would play a central role in the implementation of the 'Final Solution'. The visit to the camp is accompanied by a tour guide who ... read more

Dobry Wieczor (Good Evening); Well, we've found ourselves 599km south east from where we were before; significantly sweatier and tireder but with our finances looking rosier than the botanical gardens. Yes Ladies and Gents we're in the land of Poles, Poland. Krakow (pronounced Crack-ov) to be precise. I've been here before but this Emmas first time and well I'd like to say we can confirm its a beautiful city but so far our only exploits in the second city of poland has been to supermarkets to get a drink and when I went and got a very lovely Amaretto ice cream from the market. But to put the Amaretto ice cream into perspective we have to zoom back 24 hours and 599km to Burger King in Berlin. After having what would be our last regular meal ... read more

The Great Escape *cue music* Hey guys! It's Emma. I've taken back the controls. When your travelling its important to remain flexible - we planned 1 day in Berlin before heading to Vienna. Well Berlin was too much fun to leave tonight so we booked a hostel (10 quid for us both) for tonight, then we discovered that the train price had gone up to over 200 euros each!! - so we're going to Poland. Mark is very chuffed with himself as not only as he found the tickets to the unpronounceable Szczecin (Sch-eh-zin maybe?) for a bargain €49 for us both ("take that the man! - Mark), and a present for his mom. Berlin is a fantastic city with just the right mix of the modern metropolis and reminders of its not so distant past, ... read more

Morning all, this is an unusually self-promoting thing for me to do; blogs I always thought are for people in need of an ego boost or for compulsive liars because they usually have nothing to talk about. However here I find myself sitting in the creativly titled 'Hotel Berlin' divulging the details of my life to all and sundree. Well I suppose I better be entertaining. The flight was like Clinton Morrison in his blues heyday; just late so we missed our chance to catch Berlin pre-11pm but hey I've been pretty impressed at how big the place is and also how decent the transport over here was. INSERT GERMAN EFFECIENCY STEREOTYPE HERE. Whilst the transport was decent over the seats were like a Dale Winton wet dream unfortuantly, bright pink and with mid 90's styled ... read more
