santorini Hi, sorry its been a long time - only just gone back on the site and seen your posting. It was the Murano Villa. Its on the main drive up to the town, about 10 mins walk max to the centre. Lovely clean, spacious rooms. small pool outside... we paid 30 euros a night and it was fabulous
accomodation What was the name of the place you stayed at on Santorini ? Do you have pictures of the villa? contact info ? . we were there in 2009 and spent too much on hotels, we would like to return there but on a lesser budget.
It is breath taking, I agree, but where and what are these "lots of places to vist"? We spent 8 days and had 4 fabulous days walking in the mountains. The other 4, we were looking for stuff to do/see. A wander around the villages.... Bellagio takes about a couple of hours, Mennagio 30 mins..... Como... well, just not that into shopping, and the fenicular was closed. The villas? Not something I enjoy, walking round gardens looking at a beautiful building.
Please please dont mis construe my comments here as dissing the place.... its is stunningly beautiful, as I put in my blog, I just found it a difficult place to spend much time. What did you do to fill the time?
what a shame I think that Lake Como is the most beautiful place, and could spend weeks there. There are a lot of places to visit, and the view is breathtaking. However you've kinda made my day.....I have never heard of anyone finding is disappointing....most folks, it takes their breath away...

Have Fun In the land of the internetless at the moment. Our host has an Orange livebox - but is hard wired to it and has no wifi availablity ... nor prone to let us use the terminal - - so we are cafe hopping in the hope that - between countless cups of coffee we find one that has free wifi. Anyway, if I don't get a chance to speak with you direct before you go, hope that you and John have a great time (has he resorted to thumb twiddling yet?). I'll be back around 14/15 Sept and in UK til just after Ma's B'day then probably away again after that.
Big Hugs (mainly for you - not so much John!)
Simon
