Bad weather or what! Poor you how rotten but Salzburg sounded lovely....My brother stayed there on an exchange trip when he was at John Bentley for six weeks....he stayed with a doctor in a large house and a maid...I think Herbert must have landed the short straw when he arrived to stay with us....no car, terrace house and shared bedroom! Weather here still beautiful ...... just to rub it in!!!!!! Xxxx love me
the sun is back! Today the sun returned. Your brother's exchange visit gave him a different experience as his exchange friend got on his visit. I always find it interesting to see how others live. When you're young you think everyone has the same sort of life as you. So it's all a learning curve. My exchange visit to France was interesting. The family lived on a farm and life revolved round that.I remember being given snails to eat which took some courage to eat but were ok. Glad to hear you're still getting good weather and hope it lasts until we're back.
Sounds amazing! So pleased to read all about your trip....it’s almost as good as being there! Rog had scans today but won’t know what the treatment is likely to be funtil next Thursday...keeping my fingers permanently crossed!
Thanks for keeping on reading, makes it worthwhile doing! I do wish Roger all the best the waiting for results must be awful. Keep those fingers crossed xx
Beautiful photos! It certainly looks amazing and glad you’ve had a lazy 3 days after all your travelling. The fresh veg stall sounds unbelievable.... no wonder it tastes good! Hope James is coping without you around.... and your not missing Blighty too much! Really envious of you well done! X
It all sounds amazing! It certainly seems to be a trip of a lifetime and Croatia sounds beautiful. I know what you mean about the beach...when I went to Bali with my brother the sand looked stunning....crystal clear water and white beaches just like the adverts but the white beaches are made up of finely ground coral and was absolutely agony to walk on. Bits of coral were just lying about and I brought a bit back home but it smelt so revolting we had to throw it out! I spent most of the time limping across the sand as couldn’t find any beach shoes plus the sand was really hot as well....Happy Days nearly 25 years ago now! X
Sledge Coach Loved this sled coach...the design is beautiful! Hope you managed to avoid the thunder storms...we had a brilliant week end of warm sunny weather but today it’s like a March day with a very cold wind and fine mist drizzle.....xxx
Budapest fantastic Stunning pictures of Budapest the saddest being the lines of boots and shoes at the edge of the river. I often think that those simple personal items are more arresting than formal statues. Glad you’re having a few days rest and relaxation ... I’m working for the next fortnight then we have two weeks in Cornwall so hopefully we might get some warmer weather than we did earlier in the year! That will be the last of the holidays for this year but hopefully the bungalow will be finished by next April ( it’s having an another storey added...so with two more ensuite bedrooms It might well be beyond our price range.) Looking forward to your next blog...have fun much love xxx
have a good holiday You deserve it after a few weeks of invigilation. I've stopped doing it now it was so boring! Enjoy Cornwall, one of our favourites. We'll be done there for a week in September with friends. Hope the weather is kind to you. XX
Love Fuchs house What a quirky house and some amazing furniture! Well done you negotiating the traffic...I would probably have stopped in a dead panic...resulting in a multi car pile up!!!! Beginning to think I’ve become a real woos!!!! hugs Daphnxx
Beautiful lakes Loving all the details of your blog and the difficulty of taking the van round mountainous regions. I’ve got half term this week but been invigilating solidly for the past three weeks so can do with a rest! Looking forward to the next edition much love Daph xx
Stunning scenary Wow your pics are amazing! Well done to Simon for navigating the hairpin bends .... I can’t do heights in any way my knees literally turn to jelly and I oce caused a traffic jam going over the dome in St Paul’s ...I’d got half way over and then literally froze unable to move t all! Eventually I went backwards down to the gallery causing everyone else to go back too....Poor Rog and Ben were mortified but to this day I can’t walk near the edge of a cliff but have to hug the edge furthest away! Really enjoying your trip.... Daph xx
He is good at driving! But it still frightens the life out of me. I know how you feel. I don't like heights or speed as I feel out of control. I don't even like seeing people stand at top of cliffs. My worst moment was on the Eiffel Tower. I had to sit down half way up away from the fence and wait for the others to come back down. also at Cape Cornwall I got to the top alright but had to sit down at the top. When Simon was ready to leave I had to shuffle down on my bottom until half way down when I felt I could stand up!
Sounds can amazing day Wow the Germans certainly liven up to their reputation of organisation...as you say if only our trains could be as efficient! Loved that you both lit candles for your Mum and Dad xxx
thanks for the interest I always get sentimental in churches. The grandeur of them makes me feel inspired even if I'm not a believer. There is always a sense of something bigger than us in a church I sense.
Huh Sat Navs! Hi you two...another full day ...wow makes my walking round Calne twice look a bit feeble! Our new car has a SAT NAV which I had no idea how to work but fortunately our youngest granddaughter (a tech savvy 9yrold!) saved the day and set it all up for me including perspective view which apparently will show me skyscrapers if we ever drive to a London! She also set me up with her favourite choice of radio stations but fortunately Rog has a different profile so does not have them inflicted on him! Good luck tomorrow xxx
sat navs Ours is very new to us and is too clever for it's own good. However we keep doing things to it without meaning too and loose the map etc and then don't know how to get it back. Must say when it is working it's a godsend. How did we ever manage without them. Still use a map though
